I Purchased this camera on the internet for my wife over a year ago. When it arrived I was disappointed to find out it was a refurbished item. Buyer Beware if shopping over internet I see a lot of digital cameras out there that are refurbished. When took it with us on vacation to Boston and notice it started acting up we lost almost every picture we took it just kept locking up and shutting down. We would take the batteries out and put them in again to turn it back on only later to find out all the pictures had been lost even though XD memory card showed over 100 pictures saved it saved them in some unknown code/format.
Any how it was still under warranty even as a refurb you still get a 90 day warranty. So I shipped it back to Olympus and they repaired it and shipped it back within 3 weeks. Later that summer we took it to Disney world and it was dropped about 10 feet off the Dino ride and was lost for the rest of the day until the parked closed and they could clean under the tracks. We recovered the camera and it has a large gash in the back but the camera still works great to this day. In fact we replaced it with a Samsung 5.0 MP because my wife does not trust it I think the picture quality and ease of use and just the general feel of the camera in your hand is far better than the Samsung which we paid about $100 more for. When buying a digital camera all research them first you will find that just because a camera has a higher MP rating than others doesn't make it better. I mean you cant compare a 1.0 MP to a 6.0M MP but like in this instance I have the 4.0 Olympus and the 5.0 Samsung I think the lens quality is far superior on the Olympus than the Samsung and for that it takes a sharper picture better color quality. Always look for glass lenses over plastic and if you are just taking pictures for memories to be placed in a photo album and will never blow them up past 4x7 you dont need anything higher than a 3.0MP. I would say find out how much you are willing to spend and what if any extras you need on a camera if you just want a point in shoot or need to be able to adjust your shots. Then research the brands and lenses. Once you figured that out start from the top and work your way down until you are in your price range.
This little camera is easy to use has just enough setting for the average point and shoot user you can adjust the flash color and the pictures are easy to delete.
One more thought it takes two AA batteries but if you want to have agood battery life you need to buy a very good quality recharchable battery it will tear through normal AA batteries in about 20 pictures.
