Nifty little basic voice recorder

Occasionally I need a microcassette recorder. I use it strictly for business meetings, lectures and interviews.

At least so far, the Pearlcorder S701 seems okay. My ancient Panasonic job finally crapped out; these bottom-of-the-line numbers just cannot tolerate much in the way of shocks. If you are human, they will get knocked around, and that takes its toll.

There is not much to say: The S701 is black plastic; it lacks gaskets or any other provisions for even minimal weatherproofing; it weighs 6.4 ounces with two AA batteries and a cassette; it has 3 push-buttons, 3 slide switches, an earphone jack and a volume knob. Playback sounds better at 2.4 inches per second than 1.2. You cannot plug in an AC adapter or an external microphone.

I cannot make any projections on battery life or overall durability. As I mentioned, the S701 does not exactly shout "Rugged!" Depending on where I take it, I may look into getting some sort of case for it to try & protect it.
