Great for Everyday Use & Working Out
Date of Review: Jun 5, 2004
The Bottom Line: Recommend only if you use these outside a lot & are in direct sunlight. Spend the extra $60 & get the polarized version.
I bought these sunglasses while on vacation in Cape Cod, Mass. I was originally looking for the Oakley Eye Jacket but the style I wanted was discontinued. I tried these on & was immediately sold.
The Oakley Twenty fits & looks very similar to the older Eye Jackets. These are great for working out as the rubber parts grip more when exposed to moisture. They also look really cool too.
The lenses are extremely delicate. They can scratch easily & you can only clean them with a special Oakley bag that they give you. DO NOT rub them on your shirt to clean, I had a friend that did this & the mirror coating rubbed right off. The lenses are also very dark & work best outside in direct sunlight.
My only regret for these is that I didn't spend the extra $60 to get the polarized version. They make a significant difference, especially if you are near water a lot or when driving. The polarization cuts horizontal light so when you are driving it reduces the glare of the sun from your windshield & other cars.
If you are considering these I highly recommend the polarized version. The polarized Twenty's do have a matte finish frame instead of the shiny black though. By the way you can buy the polarized lenses separately but Oakley has been very clever to make the polarized lenses slightly different in shape so they do not fit the regular Twenty frames.
