Oprah's Magazine and Tuesdays with Dr. Phil

In the O Magazine you will find so much information that you can really use! At first my friends thought it would be a flash in the pan kind of magazine but Oprah has proven them wrong along with all her critics.

Here are some of the regular items in the magazine. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.


THE MISSION CALENDAR
Your month-long guide to the joys of friendship — the daily mission calendar. (this is also available via e-mail so you get the daily mission statement. It is nice first thing in the morning to start your day off right!)


WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE
Oprah on how knowing where you come from can get you where you need to be.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Look at yourself from a fresh perspective. Answer the question of the week to see what you can uncover. (this has been a eye opening feature for me as well as my friends and an area of discussion for my mom and I!)

FOOD
Exclusive! Have a friend over for open-faced lobster, shrimp, and gravlax sandwiches. Top it all off with luscious crème brulee from the café of Bergdorf Goodman. (this is really a neat feature. Lots of cool recipes and ideas for cooking healthy)

FINANCIAL FREEDOM
Suze Orman explores how to help a friend, plan a move, and save for a special celebration. (her advice has been very helpful. She is a smart lady with a lot to give)

TELL IT LIKE IT IS
Dr. Phil McGraw: There are counselors for your family and marriage, but what about your friendships?

I guess just about everyone has heard of Oprah Winfrey and her “Tuesdays with Dr. Phil”. If you have not had a chance to sit and soak up the wisdom of Dr. Phil you need to check it out!

He is a grass roots down to earth fella with a tell it like it is attitude. Sometimes he is brutally honest and it hits a nerve or causes a “lightbulb moment”. Oprah has even had a “lightbulb moment” on the show. She is funny when she sees what is coming and moves out of the line of “fire’ as it were!

We have purchased the book by Dr. Phil’s son for teenagers. It really has some good advice and a few “lightbulb moments” for me as a mom!

We regularly watch Dr. Phil and then we talk about the show as a family. It brings to the table a good topic for supper discussion. We have all learned to listen better to each other. Being a blended family is not easy but with some advice from Dr. Phil we have trimmed mountains into molehills and grown as a family.
