This is one of the wisest investments you could make to prolong the life of your XBox 360. The three fans really keep the unit cool. I have mine in an entertainment center, and it kept getting overheated to the point that the machine would shut down, and this was from the very beginning. I had to keep putting it on the floor to prevent this, but that became a bother. When this was first released, I bought it and no sooner than I put this on the game system, I noticed a huge difference. I have used this for several months now and not once as my unit shut down due to overheating.
I have seen where people have talked about the noise from the fans, but it is not that bad. It is a minor noise, and not enough to worry about. For the price, one can not assume that the fans would have some super stealthy silence when they ran. Besides, the TV drowns it out for the most part and I never notice it.
As for putting it on, it is literally a snap to install and it uses the power connection on the system for power. Then, you simply plug the original cord in the back of the intercooler and you are all set. It will power up and down with the system so you do not have to worry about a separate switch.
This is a must buy for a serious gamer and the occasional player as well. It does what it says, and it does it well.
