Denmark Shines

I was very impressed by this book. In fact if I get a chance I read it several times. First it is a great historical book from the perspective of a young girl. It is always important to look back at our history. It makes it more personal when it's one person's story instead of a lecture. It's even better when the younger set is involved. You may have heard a lot about WWII but it seems rare that someone had a story from Denmark. Most stories you hear are in Eastern Europe, Italy, England, France and U.S. for example. Everything is fine till the Germans come to Annemarie's town. There are new dangers and new things to worry about. Annemarie doesn't understand everything that's going on but her parents do. Innocence in this case is blessing. Before she knows it her best friend is in danger and she ends up learning more about the war than she ever wanted it. It's a great story about growing up and dealing with changes. I love the setting and the general story. I recommend it highly
