Author's Review
My youngest daughter Addison started juices a few months ago and with that came the sippy cup experience. We purchased several different varieties just in case one or two didn't suit her tastes. Fortunately we've had really good luck in that department. One of my absolute favorites is the Nuby Gripper Cup.
Price & Location
You seriously can't beat the price of the Nuby Gripper Cup. I purchased ours at Wal-Mart for $1.87 each. You can purchase these wherever Nuby products are sold, varying in price.
What's A Nuby?
Nuby Gripper Cups are different from traditional sippy cups in that they have no valve. Nope, no valve! You have three pieces to the Nuby. The cup itself, the sturdy silicone spout and the spout ring. There are no valves to clean, no extra little pieces to lose. The sipper of the Nuby actually has a built in valve that keeps the liquid from pouring out.
Nuby Gripper Cups comes in a variety of colors. Green, red, purple, blue and yellow. The cups are made out of a very sturdy plastic. The front portion of the cup has raised "grips" for easy gripping by little hands. The spout itself is made out of a soft silicone that while soft is super durable.
Nuby Gripper Cups are dishwasher safe. If you're like me and don't have a dishwasher, rest assured that these cups are very easy to clean. Much easier than the other sippy cups on the market! The valve that is in the spout is super easy to reach and clean out. The cup has a large enough opening for a bottle brush. I clean ours with our bottle brush and have no problems at all.
Addy Loves Them & So Do I!
I was unsure how Addison would react to the Nuby Gripper Cup since there were no handles for her to hang onto. At first she was a little unsure, but, within seconds gripped it and took her first sips. The grips on the cup as well as the narrow middle help her little hands keep a good grip. The unique shape of this cup is a definite plus for those little ones just starting a sippy cup.
One of the other cups that we had tried had a hard plastic spout. Addison didn't like it at all and would refuse the cup each time we tried it. Fortunately she loved the soft spout the Nuby Gripper Cup has. It's gentle on her gums and new little teeth. She can drink from this cup with ease.
I love the fact that the clean up is easy and there is no mess. This little cup doesn't leak and there's no valve needed to keep it from doing so! We have yet to have a leaky cup and we've been using these for a couple of months. I have been very pleased with how they perform.
Overall
I would highly recommend the Nuby Gripper Cup. It's a breeze to clean and won't leak! My daughter absolutely loves it and I love how easy it is for her to hold and drink from.
