Product Review

Where comes the change?

by   evilempress ,   Jan 7, 2003

Pros:  non-boy band, rock, different

Cons:  sounds familiar in some parts

The Bottom Line:  It is a refreshing tune to groove to without having to turn to the everyday pop.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Roughly Nick Carter is trying to break away from the pop boy band look and feel. He has moved from the original pop to the pop/rock. It somewhat sounds like he is really enjoying what he is singing and producing. This is showing that you can only be in pop for so long. With this solo he is trying to draw in a different crowd which might actually work. Personally, I didn't think it would be any good but then I got sucked into it.
"Help Me" was the song that come out first with the music video which sort of reflected what he is into. It basically states that you should take him for who he is and not what he did before. Also, that you should help him decide whether he is better being a Backstreet Boy or being a solo 'rocker.'
Personally I like the song "Miss America." The reason is because he sounds like he has been doing what he has been doing for several years. Also it sort of makes you take him as the man that he is. He seems in touch with the fact he thinks girls are beautiful and with his romantic side as well. He is no longer a teenager. Giving him a different air gives the music its own flavor, for the lack of a better word.
"Is It Saturday Yet?" has the lazy lean back home on a Saturday playing video games all day long feel to it. It makes him seem that he is more down to earth because many on a Saturday just sit themselves in front of the TV to watch the morning cartoons or to play video games all day. I know for a fact that is what I do when I have nothing to do. With this you get to really 'know' the person he is, or who he wants to come off as.
I would recommend this CD to all who like the whole pop scene and also those who are into rock if you totally forget that he was ever into pop. He has the whole earth feel within the music which helps you get to the heart of the music.
It is also the type of music you would listen to while you are just hanging out just talking to your friends or while you are just trying to pass time. It is really relaxing and it kind of hypes you up at the same time.
