"Help Me" is an honest, straight-forward song which gives a little bit of insight to where Nick is in his life. Lyrics like "I wish I could define/All the thoughts that cross my mind/They seem too big for me to choose/I don't know which ones to use" and "I got so much information here/And nothing I can really grasp/I should know the truth/But I'm too afraid so I have to ask" are relateable.
"My Confession" has great lyrics "I wanna breathe you/I wanna feel you near/This is my confession/I wanna see what you see/When you cry those tears" and a catchy guitar tab. When Carter sings you can hear the emotion in his voice, which is hard to come by.
"Do I Have To Cry For You" is a touching slow song which reminds the listener of Bryan Adams. "So tell me what its for/If theres no winner in it/Nobodys keepin score/Lets start from the beginning".
"I Got You" is pretty different from anything the Backstreet Boys have ever done, which is great because it sets him apart from the image that people perceive him as. Most Backstreet Boys songs have a conclusive chorus which sticks out like a sore thumb, but "I Got You" is as simple as it is sweet. "It's funny how life can take new meaning/You came and changed what I believe in/The world on the outside's trying to pull me in/But they can't touch me/'Cause I've got you".
"Blow Your Mind" strikes me as a little like something Linkin Park might do, which doesn't surprise me because Nick has said that Linkin Park is one of his favorite bands.
"Miss America" is as sultry as it is sexy. "I watch her hips swing/When she walks/She leaves me speechless/When she talks". If I had any kids, I don't know if I'd let them listen to this song due to the beginning of the chorus: "Take it off/Take it off/Let's get it on/Get it on". I'm still blushing.
"I Just Wanna Take You Home" is slightly punk, slightly rock, and slightly pop. "Why play games/And all these dates/Who needs flowers".
"Heart Without A Home (I'll Be Yours)" and "Who Needs The World" are the kinds of songs that Backstreet fans will appreciate because of they're soaked with sugary sweet lyrics like "Baby if a reason's what you're looking for/I'll be yours" from "Heart Without A Home" and "Seems like my only truth is you" from "Who Needs The World". Of course, it's lyrics like that which make girls like me swoon with delight.
I was lucky enough to get a copy of the limited addition DVD/CD combination CD, which includes the music video for "Help Me", two exclusive interviews, a photo gallery, and a behind-the-scenes look at the recording of "I Got You" in Stockholm. The DVD shows him as a normal guy doing normal things like eating a banana, joking around with co-workers, and doing goofy things for the camera man. I don't think his album got as much hype as it deserved because Justin Timberlake released his CD around the same time. It's a shame.
