Author's Review
Well, Nick is back, and he came with a bang! The first solo effort for this former Backstreet Boy has unfortunately failed to impress most of the music critics who would probably never listen to his stuff anyways. But, the fans are telling a different story.
Although he reaches back a bit to his BSB days with ballads such as Heart Without A Home and Do I Have To Cry For You, he has also branched out and found an entirely different sound than his fans are used to. With "Rocker" songs like Girls In The USA and Blow Your Mind (My personal favorite), he is really showing that he can be different, and he can make it on his own.
Nick's songwriting capabilities are also shown on this album in close to have of the songs, and they are nothing to sneeze at. He lets himself be shown to the world on an entirely more personal level, with lyrics like "I'm gonna run forever / say whatever / take a chance in what I believe in / I'm gonna have a tattoo / I'm gonna have an attitude / so tell my girlfriend / that I'm leaving / cuz I'm free yeah / to say what I wanna say / and I'm feeling / that it's time to get away" from "I Stand For You". A song basically about him being a normal 21 yr old guy who just wants to be young and independent.
To make a long review kind of short, this album is great. It has been on 'repeat' in my CD Player since I got it. I would highly recommend it to anybody who enjoys good, upbeat music, and definitely to those of you who are fans of his already!
