The Tale of a Good Razor and a Spoiled User
Pros:
Shaves quickly, closely, and smoothly in a variety of situations, affordable, rechargeable
Cons:
A bit slippery to hold onto, not as "refined" as it's more expensive siblings
The Bottom Line:
Compared to other $40 razors, the 7110x is tough to beat, but I was looking for more.

The Philips Norelco 7110x is a cordless rechargeable shaver that uses a patented "Reflex Action" system, which "automatically adjusts to every curve on your face for flexible, smoother shaving". It features their individually floating heads, that lift whiskers to allow cutting below the skin for a closer shave. The "Precision Cutting System" offers ultra thin heads with slots to shave long hairs and holes to shave the shortest stubble. The 7110x also has a flip up side trimmer for mustaches, beards, sideburns, necks, etc. It comes with a charger and cord, manual, and cleaning brush. The 7110 has power LED charging and low battery indicators. It offers 8-hour full charge for up to 25 minutes or 8 days of cordless shaving. It's backed by a 2-year warranty and a 60-day money back guarantee.
Other standard features include:
* Spring Release, Full-width Trimmer.
* Automatic Worldwide Voltage.
* Hair Collection Chamber, Electronic On/Off Switch.
* Rubber grips.
* Precision trimmer.
* Protective Razor Cap, Coil Cord and Cleaning Brush.
My 7110x came securely packaged in a clear plastic container that is heat-welded closed. I found it to be very difficult to open, and needed to essentially destroy the packing to get at it. Some simple interlocking tabs would have sufficed nicely. The head on the 7110x flips up for easy cleaning without needing to be removed completely from the razor. The overall shape and weight are comfortable and ergonomically designed. The hard plastic housing has a smoother feel than I would prefer, and is a bit on the slippery side. Norelco utilizes some rubber trim accents to help improve grip, but I find them to only be marginally effective.
My new Philips 7110x is the first decent shaver I've had in a couple of years. It shaves smoothly and quickly, and is fairly quiet. I like it and should be happy to have it....but I was really, really hoping to like it more than I do. I'll confess that I'm just a tad disappointed overall, but I also realize that the disappointment traces back to my son's Norelco 6863XL. After trying it, I was convinced it was the best shaver I'd ever used, and was unrealistically hoping that the more affordable 7110x would be on par with it. Sadly, it's not quite, but in fairness the 6863 costs ~ 50% more. The 7110x is a bit quieter, but also noticeably less powerful. The 7110 shaves quite well, but is noticeably not quite as fast or as smooth as the 6863XL. It's apparent that I'm going to be forever wanting the 7110X to be the 6863XL, and it simply isn't. The issue is more a matter of expectation than performance. The 7110 has a lot going for it for the price. It's unfair to expect Cadillac performance at a Geo price, but that's exactly what I'm facing. It's not a reasonable comparison...I just wish I didn't need to keep reminding myself how good it is as consolation A final decision about what to do is still pending, but for another $20-$25 I could get the razor I really want. That 60-day money back guarantee is beginning to have some appeal to me, but I can give the 7110 a solid 4-Star rating based on it's own performance to price ratio.
