Nokia 6590: Rock solid GSM/GPRS phone

by   travelshark ,  Jan 10, 2003
Pros: Small size, well built, high-res display, FM radio
Cons: display on the small side, no color, browser somewhat counterintuitive
The Bottom Line: Small, well built, elegant phone for AT&T's GSM/GPRS network.
Review: I used my Nokia 6160 phone for many years. This was a very well built phone with a very nice, intuitive user interface. Most of the newer Nokia phones like the 3360 looked pretty cheaply built, so I never upgraded my phone until recently when I switched...

The Best non-color screen Nokia you can have!

by   chaabi39 ,  Mar 22, 2003
Pros: Small, light weight, cool blue screen, high resolution screen, well built, and business look.
Cons: Can't store calling cards in it.
The Bottom Line: If you want a well built phone with very stylish look, small size, and organizing tools. this is the best phone you can find in the market for its price.
Review: I got this phone 2 months ago and I didn't have any problems with it since then. As soon as I got this phone I ditched my old Nokia 3360.

I actually have the nokia 6590i, the Canadian version of Nokia 6590. The only difference between them is...

Very happy with this phone

by   mayor_mccheese ,  May 30, 2005
Pros: Small, light, full of features, great battery life.
Cons: Low ringer volume, direction-sensitive earpiece.
The Bottom Line: Might not appeal to someone who wants to be on the cutting edge of technology, but for everyone else it's a great combination of practicality and fun features.
Review: I started with an entry-level phone, a Nokia 3390, but decided to upgrade. After a bit of research I was determined to get the Nokia 6590i. It had all the things I wanted improved over the 3390 and a similar and very intuitive menu/controls. First ...

small package, big phone

by   valeski ,  Oct 25, 2002
Pros: light, tiny, well constructed, fast charging, high res screen
Cons: not a color screen, no bluetooth
The Bottom Line: If you like tiny, high quality phones, this is for you. Its tight construction means business and pulls this phone out of the mass market category.
Review: I ditched my Nokia 3360 (see my epinions review on that one if you'd like) on ATT's TDMA network to move over to the Nokia 6590. I waited awhile until ATT's GSM network started maturing a bit, but, I recently picked up the Nokia 6590 GSM (it's only sold...

Nokia 6590

by   jgobrien ,  Dec 3, 2002
Pros: Nokia knows how to build solid cellular telephones
Cons: GSM Technology still playing catch up
The Bottom Line: In my case, the hands down winner using AT&T's new GSM technology!
Review: I've been using the new Nokia 6590 on AT&T's brand new GSM system which they introduced along with their unlimited usage charter plans. The phone competes directly with its counterpart the Nokia 8390. They are similar or alike in technology except the...

6590

by   swedecheff ,  Sep 24, 2002
Pros: Lots of talk time; Smallest phone I have found; GSM; solid construction
Cons: Talk and End button could be a little bigger.
The Bottom Line: I love using it. It has a much more solid feel than the Japanese phones taking over the US market. European phones are the way to go.
Review: This phone is a treat to use. It seems as though the European technology may finally have gotten here. Thanks for allowing us to have the good stuff FCC. I believe that they may have finally realized that the rest of the world gets to use the new phones,...

A great phone!

by   snowypalmtree ,  Apr 7, 2003
Pros: lots of features, compact size
Cons: no color screen, on/off button, may be a little too small for some people
The Bottom Line: Worth every single penny!
Review: I got this phone through AT&T Wireless, although you can get it from Cingular too. Everything about this phone is GREAT! I actually was going to buy a Nokia 3395 but then my friend got a 6590 so I fell in love with it! It's built really solidly and...

6590 is like a supercharged 8390

by   cellphreak ,  Jan 25, 2003
Pros: Size, Nokia UserInterface, features
Cons: no colour screen
The Bottom Line: For the price, features, ease of use and Nokia's name, you cannot go wrong with this product.
Review: I recently bought this phone after selling my Nokia 8390 for a Motorola. I needed to get a Nokia again because they make by FAR the best phones for sms'ing. I must say that this was the best choice I have made in a long time. The phone is tiny, has a...

A Sweet Little Package

by   nb044 ,  Jun 16, 2003
Pros: Size, Battery life, Radio, Easy to Use
Cons: No color screen, Not tri-band
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this phone for anyone who needs a quality phone without a ton of multimedia functions.
Review: About a month ago I decided to get rid of my Nokia 3360. The Battery Life was terrible, and it just ...

One sexy phone

by   sgfrank ,  Apr 16, 2003
Pros: Extremely sleek, sturdy design; hi-res screen.
Cons: Difficult to cradle on shoulder
The Bottom Line: A great phone, though if it's that much more than its cousin the 8390, which I have seen for $0 once or twice, I might think twice about the splurge.
Review: Having won this phone as a replacement to my Nokia 8390, I was very confused. Isn't this new 6590 the same as my 8390 but with a champagne face plate? To the contrary, the 6590 takes the 8390 and raises the bar a notch.

First, the 6590 feels...
