Author's Review
I am very resistant to the high tech phones that do everything. In 2000, we had the Kyocera SmartPhone through Verizon, and we hated them. Since that experience, the simpler the cell phone the better, or at least in my opinion...
In 2007, we went T-Mobile, and both my husband and I chose the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone. I liked the color, 2 tone gray, with a beautiful smoke colored screen. MY like of the color would be what ended the relationship! We both liked the feel of the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone. It is small and compact in the hand. Gone are the days of the big bulky cell phones, and not a minute too soon!! The sides of the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone have an almost rubbery feel, so the phone is all that much more comfortable to hold.
The screen of the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone is small, but not so small as to be completely useless. While there is no camera on this phone, it will display pictures that you email to it. The screen is just large enough that you can see the cute picture, but not big enough to be able to see any of the details. The biggest problem with the screen of the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone, is the color. It is a beautiful smokey color. It gives the phone a stunning appearance, but it renders the phone useless in the daylight! The backlight on the phone is no competition for natural light! This was the only reason I got a new phone!!
The keypad of the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone is small, but very usable. The keys are well marked and easy to press, despite being very small and close together! I have used cell phone with bigger keypads, yet harder to use buttons!!
The Nokia 2610 Cell Phone supports T-Mobile's Fave Five Program. You can use any of the pre-loaded icons, download more from T-Mobile, or use your own pictures that you email to the phone. This is a fun feature that we never knew existed until we got our Nokia 2610 Cell Phone!
The Nokia 2610 Cell Phone has an organizer, just like most other modern cell phones. It has a calendar, alarm clock, to-do list, notes, calculator, timer, and stopwatch. The Nokia 2610 Cell Phone has games, all of which need to be downloaded and purchased from T-Mobile's website. The Nokia 2610 Cell Phone also has a voice recorder onboard, so you can record anything to playback later. Well almost anything, there is a time limit of about a minute, so talk fast!
The Nokia 2610 Cell Phone is T-zones compatible, meaning you can use it to check out selected websites. We never used this option, until recently, given how hard it was to see anything with the screen being so dark. A few weeks ago, my newer Nokia phone fell ill and while awaiting a replacement, I return my Nokia 2610 to regular service for about 2 weeks. It worked okay, but reaffirmed my hatred for that awful screen.
Using the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone was a dream, so long as it was for talking and not looking at that screen. In all the time we used these phones, we never once had a complaint of static. People were often surprised we were even on a cell phone. I didn't find such clarity with the head piece that Nokia included in the box, which made it hard, if not impossible, to us the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone while driving.
Like an oridinary cell phone, it isn't so much the phone as the service provider, but we never had very many dropped calls with our Nokia 2610 Cell Phones. We would usually experience call issues when we would drive to the less populated areas here in Oregon.
The battery of the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone, holds up well through everything but the washing machine... I have only my car chagrer for the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone, since my wonderful kitties have taken a liking for cell phone charger wires. I am able to fully charge my phone's battery in 40 minutes of driving or less, and the battery will last me throughout the day, and on into the next. I do text quite frequently, and I use my T-Zones regularly. As for talking, I do that as well, and yet the battery goes on.
Only once, in all the time I have used my Nokia 2610 Cell Phone did the battery run out. Of course, it HAD to be when a plane in an air show crashed 2 blocks from our house. We were all okay, but I was worried about the dogs. I was at the air show and couldn't use the phone to call home or my husband at work. It was MY fault the battery died, I hadn't had it on the charger for days.
We really liked everything about the Nokia 2610 Cell Phone, except the usability of the screen. We have a pay as you go account that we use as a spare phone in the car. We donated one of the Nokia 2610 Cell Phoneto a charity cause, the other we now have as our spare car phone. We still use it when/if needed, and we still love it until we have to look at anything on that screen!
