Product Review

6 years, 3 kids, still using it!

by   Tandemonimom ,   Nov 7, 2001

Pros:  comfortable, durable, easy to use, baby feels so secure

Cons:  none!

The Bottom Line:  If you have a "cling-on" baby, this will save your sanity! Start using in the first few weeks; some babies have trouble adjusting if started after two months.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I put my daughter in this the day she was born and we both fell in love! It's great for carrying, nursing, and sleeping - sometimes all at once! My daughter was one of those "cling-on" babies who needed constant contact, and this sling saved my sanity! I learned to wash dishes, vacuum, and even cook (be very careful of the end of the strap which can get close to the fire).

Infants can be held lying down, cradled on your shoulder, or turned around facing out, with their little legs crossed. People would ask if she wasn't uncomfortable all balled up, but babies love that swaddled feeling (and they were a lot MORE balled up just a month ago!). As they get older and longer, the feet can be allowed to dangle when they are facing your shoulder, or hang over the front when they are facing out.

When they are sitting up, add hip sitting to the sling repertoire. People will remark that baby is too big for that thing, but let me tell you, it's easier than hip carrying WITHOUT the sling - it really saves your arm and back!

I admit I have two slings (the second one I made). When my son came along, I was afraid my daughter was so attached to her sling (she rode in it all thru my pregnancy) that she would flip out to see a new baby in it. So I made a second one and kept one in the car - voila! No more forgetting to pack the sling! I just had baby #3 and am still using both slings. The Nojo is just starting to show a little wear on a couple of seams, and my daughter is now 6 years old!

One warning: I've heard from several mothers whose children didn't like the sling, and on questioning, it turned out that they tried to start using it at 2 or 3 or 4 months old. All babies may balk at something so new, but if you start using it within the first couple of weeks, I guarantee baby will love it as much as you do!
