One Powerful X, and worth it!

by   jc_silvia ,  Oct 9, 2005
Pros: Good strong fun in a small package.
Cons: Hard suspension, no decent connection for an iPod.
The Bottom Line: Worth every penny, and full of surprises. It's a good around town SUV with the guts to take on anything.
Review: I got my 2005 Nissan Xterra as a sort of response to my dismal experience with the 2004 Nissan Titan (see my review there for details) and this truck is far more of a treat than I had originally expected. To start out this review, let me say ...

Kept the good parts and improved the rest

by   zap3v ,  Mar 27, 2005
Pros: Powerful engine, redesigned exterior and interior, low price
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Buy one if you are in the market for an SUV with real performance. New and improved from previous models.
Review: I'm happy to say I have one of the only 2005s in the state and probably the country and the first to review it on this site. I'll give a brief history of the Xterra, explain my 2003 (a mini-review) and then review the 2005. Xterra debuted in 2000 as ...

BEST SUV FOR THE MONEY

by   bsltiger15 ,  Jul 5, 2005
Pros: Most HP for the money of any SUV, exceptional cloth interior, great looking interior/exterior!
Cons: Interior materials too easily scratched, somewhat rough ride, base model radio/speakers are terrible!
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone as it is an excellent truck for the money.
Review: I love my new Xterra! I purchased the S version with the Utility and Power packages (and a few other utility things for the back). I am extremely satisfied. The sticker prices was a little over $25,000.00 but I bought the truck for approx $22,500.00 with ...

From a mom's point of view...

by   gbig_99 ,  Mar 7, 2007
Pros: Easy to clean cargo, powerful, roomy, sporty and safe
Cons: Fuel Milage
The Bottom Line: Great car for a mom with stuff to haul around and "man enough" for my husband to drive.
Review: I purchased a used 2005 Xterra SE, with 10K miles on it. I was in the market for a larger vehicle when it was discovered that I couldn’t easily fit a carseat into my 2 door Civic. I knew that I wanted an SUV and I knew that I loved the look of the ...

An absolutely superb vehicle!

by   zznalg ,  Aug 24, 2005
Pros: Price. Power. Bank vault solid. Steering. Gearbox. Utility. Visibility. Reliability. Fun-to-Drive.
Cons: Easily scratched interior. Front seat could be more comfortable but, it is acceptable.
Review: I will keep it short today and elaborate in the near future. I am an actual owner of an '05 Xterra OffRoad with a 6-speed manual transmission. I have driven 5000 miles in comfort, with perfect reliability, an exhilarating driving experience and tactile ...

Hmm.. seems the market is a bit confused

by   frontier4x4 ,  Nov 10, 2005
Pros: Engine, Shorter Wheelbase, ABLS, Hill Controls
Cons: No 2-Door Version, Could be smaller...
Review: I recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Frontier 4x4 NISMO (might as well be the same vehicle). I couldn't help but notice the negative reviews on the Xterra's suspension... Buyers, you must remember, the Xterra is built for off-roading, not to pamper you ...

Improved all around for 2005; but worth the much higher price?

by   mkaresh , top reviewer in Cars & Motorsports at Epinions.com ,  Jul 23, 2005
Pros: Power, off-road ability, utility, much improved over the 2004
Cons: Cheap interior, narrow rear doors, more trucky than the car-based competition
The Bottom Line: If you want an inexpensive SUV with off-road capability, definitely worth a look. But the Pathfinder is better, and doesn't cost much more.
Review: These days, most automakers sell an inexpensive car-based SUV at least partially targeted at younger buyers. Nissan, because of shaky finances in the late 1990s, but perhaps also to carve out its own niche, took a different tack when it introduced the ...

Big outside little inside

by   divadkire ,  Aug 8, 2005
Pros: Great rugged look
Cons: No leg room
Review: Thankfully I did not buy the 2005 Nissan Xterra, rather I rented one at the airport with 3,000 miles on it. I did not find it comfortable inside, the interior materials were hard and not user friendly. The ride was not real smooth. Unfortunately I ...
