I'd love it more, if it didn't burn oil.

by   wilkink ,  Jan 1, 2009
Pros: Great value
Powerful
Spacious
Cons: If unlucky, can be an oil burner
Some interior and exterior pieces cheap looking
Horrible turning radius
The Bottom Line: Honestly, if it wasn't for the oil burning, I'd most likely buy another because of the value, space, looks and power. However with Nissan ignoring me, I'll be looking elsewhere.
Review: I bought the Maxima new in Sept of '04 with 15 miles on it. It actually cost me less than my wife's Altima 3.5 SE. It was a great value. It does have an amazingly powerful engine. The interior is comfortable and spacious. I now have 92K on the odometer. ...

04 maxima sl runs great...thus far.

by   ajlowery ,  Mar 6, 2007
Pros: ok gas mileage, roomy, great bose sound system.
Cons: expensive maintenance costs...
Review: I have owned this car for 6 mos and have had no problems so far I had purchased this car with just over 41,000 miles and just turned over 50,000 miles. This car is a little rough on the road but to be truthful, I think all the Maxima's are designed to ...

Great car

by   zwirek ,  Jun 17, 2006
Pros: Great engine, I love the sport tunned susspension and the body roll is minimal
Cons: Cheap looking interior on the base model.
Review: If there is something I don't like it's the automatic tranny (even tough with manual shift) and the front driven wheels. With this horsepower (265), rear (or awd) would be more fun to drive and of course manual ...

It's definitely sexier than last year's model, but a better value? Hmm..

by   shoplmart , top reviewer in Cars & Motorsports at Epinions.com ,  Sep 30, 2003
Pros: Acceleration, Price, Skyview roof.
Cons: Torque steer, 4-speed automatic, Road noise, Some interior quality control issues.
The Bottom Line: The Nissan Maxima could improve on many levels, however it does present a decent value.
Review: Since the Maxima's birth in 1981, this flagship from Nissan has consistently offered better than average performance, superior build quality, and some of best bang for the family man's buck. While the Maxima has almost always been on my list of ...

A good value

by   bigoletruk ,  Jan 11, 2008
Pros: attractive, powerful, lots of standard features, good value
Cons: turning radius, cheap interior
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car because of the value for the price. Powerful engine, lots of interior room.
Review: I purchased the new Nissan Maxima SE because I loved the exterior styling and head-turning looks. The interior is very roomy and this car has a list of impressive standard features (some of which are options on the Honda Accord). It has a very powerful ...

2004 Maxima SE Review

by   jdonofrio ,  Jan 23, 2008
Pros: Power Manumatic available Handling
Cons: Torque Steer Gas mileage Horrible turning radius Rough suspension
The Bottom Line: If you really want a Nissan, its a good car but there are better options out there.
Review: I am impressed and disappointed with this car at the same time. There are many good qualities to this car, but there are many things wrong with this car as well. First, the positives. The engine is fantastic. Power delivery is smooth, loads of ...

Dome Light Stays On & Sunroof Closing Improperly

by   gina706 ,  Oct 12, 2006
Pros: The car is sleek and very comfortable for passengers in the front or rear.
Cons: Too many problems for a car under 3 years old with less than 40,000 miles.
Review: I love my Nissan Maxima's sleek style and comfort but have experienced more headache than it's worth. My left dome light stays on and won't turn off until I've hit the switch at least 100 times and my moon roof closes properly some days and others it ...

Great Driving Car

by   bl60174 ,  Nov 1, 2006
Pros: Fun to drive
Cons: Some minor quality issues
Review: Good things: The car is fun to drive, great headlights (I can see a long way ahead), exterior styling, engine performance, adjusting steering wheel, roomy, decent trunk space. Not so good things: Sun roof closing problems (repaired once so far), the ...

The 2004 Nissan Maxima, fun when it RUNS

by   jmeberhardt ,  Jul 22, 2005
Pros: Good horsepower and fun to drive
Cons: bad tire slippage, unreliable, numerous engine problems
Review: I own a 2004 Maxima SE with all the bells and whistles that come in this model. I must say when its running it is a lot of fun to drive minus the wheel slippage from a stop and the massive torque steer when accelerating hard. I have had a large number ...

My Third & Worst Maxima

by   bills1 ,  Nov 29, 2006
Pros: Car looks nice and is very quick.
Cons: Turning radius of a semi, erratic acceleration, and poor traction.
Review: I previously owned an '89 & '95 Maxima. My '04 Maxima looks nice and I receive compliments, but is has serious flaws: the wheel hub surrounds the wheel causing major problems with snow buildup. Terrible traction in bad weather. Replacing a headlight ...
