The Xterra puts the Sport-Utility back in SUV

by   doctorisom ,  Jul 14, 2004
Pros: Has all the qualities of a true SUV, clearance, utility, gear storage, power, great accessories
Cons: Doesn't drive like a car, but why should it? Gas guzzler 16-17mpg.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for an SUV to use for all those outdoor activities, this is the one for you, no matter what you do outside.
Review: My wife and I have owned this car for a year now and love it. If you're an outdoor, camping, biking, hiking, climbing, nature person, then you will too. The Xterra does everything an SUV should for someone who uses it for things apart from soccer ...

An SUV for the purist!

by   ttrainor ,  Oct 9, 2003
Pros: Built in Tennessee by good old boys, good mileage, good power, good looks, great comfort.
Cons: The only possible con is that I didn't buy one sooner.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this vehicle to anyone wanting a serious SUV that still maintains good comfort on the highway.
Review: I had intended to wait until I had owned this vehicle longer before reviewing it, but I cannot keep quiet about it. I LOVE IT! I was driving a 1995 V6 4Runner with AT and full power package that gave me MANY problems, and finally traded it on this Xterr ...

Our New 4x4 Toy

by   menichcr ,  Aug 24, 2003
Pros: Nice Ride, very comfortable, Its Foreign
Cons: None so far
The Bottom Line: I was very impressed with this vehicle, it has a rugged look and power to back it. Our extensive SUV search is finally over. Highly recommend for Mid-size SUV choice.
Review: The review below is based on our 1st week of Ownership of our Nissan Xterra with the sport package (fog lights, 2 extra power outlets, cloth door inserts) Power package (Power windows, doors, remote keyless entry), and the Auto dimming mirror with ...

4 doors with teeth

by   jwhitesc ,  Aug 7, 2003
Pros: Off road capabilities, Sound system, Interior comfort, Truck frame, Reliability
Cons: May not have the room that big truck/SUV fans want
The Bottom Line: Research before buying in this class. If you care about offroad performance/durability with 4 doors, the Xterra is the ONLY choice. If you just want 4 doors, look elsewhere.
Review: I researched a vehicle to fit my lifestyle for quite some time. With the amount of time I spend in ...

2003 nissan xterra

by   dawnrhoades ,  Jan 4, 2003
Pros: Advanced safety features, good gas milage, plenty of cargo/storage.
Cons: dont make enough available colors.
The Bottom Line: Awesome family car. Very reliable and safe.
Review: Although marked to the active out doors type it also makes a great family car. The Xterra's safety features in gas mileage make this car in my opinion perfect for a run though the mountains or a run to the store.

The options that are...

What A Choice For An SUV

by   willit ,  Oct 14, 2003
Pros: The seats, fit and finish, rugged look, well engineered interior and exterior
Cons: A little more power (200hp NA?) Just a bit more style to the instrumentation.
The Bottom Line: This is by far the most impressive SUV for the dollar. Other SUV's have nicer amenities, but nothing beats the fit and finish of this SUV for the price.
Review: After test driving most of the vehicles in this category, the Xterra has to be the true definition of "SUV". I purchased a 2003 XE 2wd Auto, with most of my favorite options. The supercharged SE was a bit too much for the wallet, so I opted for the XE. Wh ...

If you have a lemon its a fluke

by   vbrint0001 ,  Feb 8, 2004
Pros: Nice for road trips, good gas mileage. A lot of new and different colors.
Cons: I am seeing a lot more on the road. Luckily a lot of different colors.
Review: The Nissan Xterra, has everything you want in a SUV, nothing more, and nothing less. It's turning radius is nothing I've ever experienced, you could turn on a dime. Back seat viewing is very comfortable, you don't feel like you are sitting in the back. ...

Love it, my second Xterra!

by   sporkbunny ,  Jun 14, 2007
Pros: Versatile, rugged, extremely capable in adventuresome conditions.
Cons: No frills, gas guzzler, could be a little bigger.
Review: I started with a 2WD 2000 Xterra SE; it enabled all kinds of adventures (hiking, skiing, surfing, mountain biking). It changed my lifestyle! I love it so much I upgraded to the 4WD Supercharged 2003 (SE SC) model. Big step up! I am especially impressed ...

No problems here

by   timboo ,  Mar 10, 2005
Pros: Reliable, sporty, fun to drive, high off the ground (which is fun too!).
Cons: Front seat/door clearance is very narrow for someone who is over 6 feet tall.
Review: I bought my 2003 XTerra new from a dealership about a year ago. I currently have 11,000 miles on it and have not had any trouble so far. It has been dependable and relatively comfortable. So far I have been pleased and recommend the SUV to my friends and ...

Does just what I want it to do

by   sdthornton ,  Oct 26, 2007
Pros: Priced right, drives well and is reliable. The fit and finish is excellent.
Cons: A little sluggish on acceleration and I would like a little better gas mileage.
Review: My Exterra does just what I needed it for. A vehicle that doesn't cost me a arm and a leg in monthly payments, fun to drive and reliable. The fit and finish are great! It drives a little different and is more truck like than my Pathfinder, but I ...
