Not perfect but still my favorite car

by   kieranlavin ,  Feb 25, 2005
Pros: Power, handling, HID lights, options, reputation, reliability, NISSAN
Cons: HID lights, smoking in the car, tranny reputation
The Bottom Line: Definitely worth it for the money. The car is on par with much more highly priced cars
Review: 2002 Maxima SE... I rented one of these at a car convention in early 2002 and had the car on a track. I was able to see the car in two different worlds... daily driving on the street and lugging people and luggage around as well as high performance ...

Nissan Maximus - Not your father's oldsmobile.

by   buddyluve ,  Apr 3, 2004
Pros: Class leading 255 HP 3.5 liter V6. Fit and Finish are stellar.
Cons: OEM Tires are costly. Wide turning radius. Torque Steer.
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent sleeper car. It is fast, stylish, and fun and doesn't draw attention to itself. Have some fun while you go grocery shopping!
Review: This is a very thorough review of a 2002 Nissan Maxima SE by a critical mechanical engineer. I will discuss every minute detail and try to sum up the experience when driving this car. THE BEGINNING : I purchased this car in April of 2003 as a one ...

Best car for the money

by   maninmaui ,  Oct 22, 2002
Pros: Sporty looks, good ride, power, gas mileage, value
Cons: Minor rattles and buzzing sounds, old fashioned trunk hinges, obsolete after 2004, inferior base stereo
The Bottom Line: Excellent car for the money. Love the gadgets, quality feel, and 3.5 liter engine. Cool headlamps up front too. They sealed the deal.
Review: Have always loved the Maxima back from the second generation (1989). Excellent "european ride", very comfortable and responsive.

Just bought a used 2002 Maxima SE and have a few comments for those considering a similar purchase.

My AWESOME 2002 Maxima GLE

by   rixkidz ,  Mar 6, 2002
Pros: Everything
Cons: Have not found anything yet
The Bottom Line: Buy it... negotiate and you can get a great deal.
Review: I purchased my GLE Jan 15th, and I now have over 3000 miles on it. I Financed it thru NMAC @ 3.9%.. the finance rate was so good I couldnt pass it up!

After negotiating with 3 dealers and getting quotes ranging from 3-10% over invoice, I...

The best car I've ever had

by   sugardaddy721 ,  Feb 26, 2004
Pros: Destroys street racers in every competition and makes for comfortable road trips.
Cons: Not at all sexy looking...a sleeper. Maybe that's good...cops ignore it.
The Bottom Line: The best car I've ever had...worry free performance is not an oxymoron with the 2002 maxima
Review: About 30 months ago I leased a Maxima SE fully loaded, and after 30 months of very pleased ownership I decided to trade it in on a new one. But with 58k miles on it, I'm way upside-down on my lease. So I've decided to buy out the lease and own the car. ...

It's the Max

by   rdspafford ,  Oct 30, 2003
Pros: Stealth rocket with space for five.
Cons: Could have a better slalom speed and have something(?)done to the shifter.
The Bottom Line: I research in an obsessive manner for months. This is one of the best car for the money available.
Review: I have had my 2002 Maxima SE 6 speed for a year and a half (leased new). Aside from taking it in for leaking power steering hoses (tightened), it has been flawless. It has also been very fast. It has a computer generated mpg number of 28.8 currently, and ...

2002 Maxima SE 6 Speed - Hold on tight!!!

by   priores ,  Aug 14, 2002
Pros: Power and Handling, 6 Speed Transmission, Highway Ride
Cons: Some window noise, Torque steer
The Bottom Line: BUY THIS CAR!!!! You will not be disappointed. Loads of power and fun for you, roomy enough for your spouse and two kids.
Review: Fell in love with it from the moment I test drove it. 255hp and a 6 speed transmission makes this car take off like rocket. I could feel my self being pushed hard into the seat while accelerating. I bought one and have been having a great time since. The...

Wonderful sporty family car

by   creutzmann ,  Nov 29, 2003
Pros: Excellent power, fit, finish, ride and value
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: If you don't want to drive a bland/nuetered car (Camrys/Accords) but want their reliability/fit/finish and MORE power to beat them from a stop light-the Maxima is 4 U
Review: I purchased a used 2002 Maxima SE 6 speed with cloth interior for $17,000. Car only has 20,000 miles on it. Very smooth compared to my 95 and 99 Maixmas I previously owned. Torque is plentiful and gets up to 80 mph quickly. Also I noticed there is no...

Pound-for Pound an all-around Winner!

by   big12hold ,  Jun 5, 2002
Pros: Solid European feel, strong engine performance, excellent fit and finish.
Cons: Slightly busy ride, torque steer, slight wind noise around the windows.
The Bottom Line: Even with an impending re-design forthcoming, the Maxima is a "driver's car". It does everything well, and is exceptional in many areas.
Review: I purchased this vehicle new one month ago, and have put 500 miles on it thus far. I have no regrets thus far, other than the fact that it is primarily my wife's car.

The engine is a marvel of design and technology. I only wish that it was...

Nissan Maxima: Big Bang For the Buck.

by   ptparks ,  Feb 18, 2002
Pros: Excellent value. Easily out-options a 3-series BMW for much less $$.
Cons: 6-spd manual is nice but notchy
The Bottom Line: The best value for someone looking for practicality, comfort, and a touch of sportiness, wrapped up in a stylish vehicle that rivals the near-luxury class.
Review: After deciding my C-5 Corvette was just getting too expensive to keep as a daily driver, I decided that a more practical car was what I really needed. None of the current offerings of American iron seemed to fit the void left by the sportiness of the...
