THE 2002 ALTIMA: Another Example of How Nissan Might be in Trouble

by   vara , lead in Cars & Motorsports at Epinions.com ,  Feb 1, 2002
Pros: Plenty of grunt, lots of interior space, great ride/handling, impressive feature content.
Cons: Vague manual shifter, mini-van steering. Introductory year means quality kinks and dealer mark-ups.
The Bottom Line: Bottom line? You'd be hard-pressed to find another car with such power, feature-content, and quality for this price. I don't say that sort of thing too often.
Review: The folks at Nissan must really be in the business of shooting themselves in the foot. Why do I say that? Surely not because they are starting to manufacture cars that are worth buying: Nissan vehicles across the board have received more power,...

I Know I Love It and That May be All I Need to Know

by   theworm ,  Sep 29, 2002
Pros: Comfortable and Reliable
Cons: a few minor design flaws
The Bottom Line: Despite a few minor design flaws, the 2002 Altima is a great value. It's comfortable, safe and fun to drive, and it looks great!
Review: Let me start by saying that I’m not a “car person”. I view driving as a necessary evil, and a car is just the thing that I sit in while I am forced to drive. When it’s time for me to buy a car I figure out my price range, look in...

Baby’s Got A Cool Set Of Wheels!

by   PeterLRuden ,  Oct 27, 2001
Pros: Cutting edge styling and safety features, roomy, excellent handling and brakes, superior fit and finish.
Cons: Accessory packages boost purchase price to near top of class
The Bottom Line: The Altima boasts sports-sedan styling, ample room, excellent handling, brakes and a powerful 2.5L engine. The V6 version is a screamer. Exciting alternative to the Accord and Camry.
Review: The 2002 Nissan Altima offers excellent handling, powerful brakes, the latest safety features, lots of room and a choice between a powerful yet economical 175 horsepower 2.5 liter DOHC four cylinder power plant or a muscular DOHC 3.5 liter, 240...

2.5S - My Cure For The Common Car (Now Includes Cross-Country Trip Update)!

by   jwnrw ,  Aug 9, 2002
Pros: Standard features are plentiful, nice styling, great performance.
Cons: Interior fit and finish, light-feeling doors and trunk.
The Bottom Line: Great vehicle, it will be interesting to see Honda's counter to the Altima - whatever it is, you can bet that the price will be higher.
Review: After driving family vehicles for the past decade and a half ranging from a 1984 Olds Custom Cruiser Wagon (“Hey buddy, is that a boat or a tank?”) to a couple of mini-vans (1997 and 2000 Grand Caravans - OK for carting people and gear, but don't...

The athlete of family haulers

by   jtkz13 ,  Jan 21, 2003
Pros: Great Power, available stick shift, great looking ,great value
Cons: Vague shifter ,some cheap plastic interior parts
The Bottom Line: Dollar for dollar the most attractive 4 door sedan on the market. Will haul the kids to soccer practice, and will haul butt at every stop light.
Review: Upon first reading about the 2002 Altima I have to say I was mightily impressed.

Here's some basic specs:
-240hp/246lb tq
-3.5L DOHC V6 (VQ series)
-5 speed manual transmission
-Leather/Sport package
-ABS/Side...

I love my 2.5S

by   shenk ,  May 9, 2002
Pros: Powerful, handles like a sports car, roomy, stylish
Cons: cheap plastics in interior
The Bottom Line: All around excellent car and don't forget that it's 2002 N. American Car of the Year.
Review: I got this car about two weeks ago. I have the 2.5s with just the floor mats, in-cabin micronfilters, and splash guards. You would be hard pressed to find 2.5s altimas without those options. I paid $18,400. Looking back, I'm sure I would have been able...

3.5 SE Luxury Package

by   BassGirl ,  May 19, 2002
Pros: My family sedan that makes me feel like a teenager - What a Car!
Cons: Gwinnett Place Nissan. Update - handled my scheduled maintenance and did fantastic job.
The Bottom Line: I love the car - watch the salesman & the options when buying - but otherwise, ENJOY!!!
Review: I bought my Seascape Green/Blue 3.5 SE (with nearly all of the options) three weeks ago and I feel like I did when I first started dating my husband. I now look for excuses to run errands just to go drive & to look cool behind the wheel of my hot little...

I Think I Like This Car.....A Lot

by   pfcmhchase ,  Apr 4, 2003
Pros: Initial Quality Seems High
Cons: Minor Quibbles; Seat Adjustment And Fuel Economy
The Bottom Line: My initial observation is 100 percent positive; I like this car and have no reason to belive it will fail me in the future.
Review: It’s difficult to make objective statements about a newly purchased car, especially a car that’s been redesigned from the bottom up. (For those unaware, the 2002 Altima was completely redesigned from the previous year). Everyone wants to...

Could the Altima become a Camry-killer? I think so.

by   MASTERNC ,  Dec 26, 2001
Pros: Power to spare, cavern-like interior, handles like a sports car
Cons: Price (with packages), service costs, interior materials slightly below expectations, few 5-speeds
The Bottom Line: Honda better have something good up their sleeves for the 2003 Accord and Toyota better watch out!
Review: For as long as I can remember, I have been driving Japanese imports-especially Hondas and Toyotas. The quality of these vehicles is unsurpassed and I usually drive them into the ground. Unfortunately, one of my current Hondas (a 1995 Accord-see my...

V6 Stick

by   greer1 ,  Jan 12, 2002
Pros: An amazingly fast safe luxury sports sedan
Cons: Looks of envy I get from other drivers
The Bottom Line: If your concerns are PACE, SPACE & GRACE this is the car for you.
Review: I own the 3.5 SE with manual transmission and this car really moves! The 0-60 time of 6.3 sec. is no exaggeration. I have driven the requisite 1000 miles to break it in, and here are my thoughts on who should buy this vehicle: If you are looking for a...
