Author's Review
The 2000 Nissan Quest GLE has been a welcome addition to our growing family...When child number 2 came into the picture, we needed a little more room than our 97 Pathfinder could offer. The Quest fills this need perfectly. We opted for the GLE (Loaded) and I must say we do not regret it..Power in the car is very adequate (V6) and acceleration is not a problem..The ergonomics in the car are right where you need them with the exception of the cupholders which cannot really hold a cup (any size) and more often than not, the cups spill on a turn. On the plus side, the two sliding doors are really a blessing, and the 2nd row captain's chairs are very comfortable (word of warning though, if you have child or booster seats in the captain's chairs, your rear bench seat passengers may find it difficult to get in and out). I find the rear bench seat kind of confusing to move, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad. The smart shelf in the rear hatch is also great for separating groceries from the stroller and other items, get it if you can. Ride in the car is smooth and quiet, great for the road, and the video entertainment system, (standard on the GLE) is awesome for keeping kids mesmerized for hours. Dual A/C with climate control keep the cabin cool. This van drives more like a car so parking and moving in tight streets is no problem. Only major problem with our Quest was the rear A/C unit. Stopped cooling @ 25,000 miles. Our local dealer told us that it was a problem with our year (Ford made Compressor of course), but problem was solved with Japanese made compressor which was installed in van. Repair took about two days, but dealer did their best to fix problem. Ended taking car to a metropolitan dealer about 2 hrs away, (Local dealer in one horse town I live in had trouble getting the parts. No other problems to date (Knock on wood) So I would recommend this car to anyone...Hopefully for 2002 and beyond, Ford will stick to making their own cars and leave the quality to the Japanese...I hate US made cars...
