i never want to sell this truck
Date of Review: Feb 2, 2007
The Bottom Line: I recommend this truck to anyone and everyone. Especially the 2000 body style. The newer body style just looks weak in my opinion.
I bought this truck used in '04 right before graduating from college. It had had two owners, but the mileage was still below 60K. I got the V6 XE Crew Cab, loaded with options like leather seats, sun roof, premium stereo sound, bed extender, grill guard, dark tinted windows, power everything, wide tires, etc. If you can think of it, this truck has it. To be honest, I bought it because it looked cool as hell and I could afford it :)
It got put to work immediately, pulling a loaded moving trailer over a thousand miles, over a mountain range. It performed great. A year later, it made another move of a thousand miles pulling a slightly larger moving trailer. It was slower going that time, but no problems were had. The little guy just does anything you ask it to do.
It just passed 100K on the odometer, and I spent about a thousand having it completely tuned. New hoses, belts, water pump, thermostat, etc. There was a small leak in one of the hoses, so I decided to get everything done the dealership could think of.
My biggest surprise is how often I use the bed extender. I highly recommend this option. You never realize how handy it is until you have it available.
The cons are cabin size and gas mileage. I really expected a car this size to have better gas mileage, but it averages about 18 on mixed hwy/city driving. Not bad, but not good either. I am 6'1 190 pounds, not a little guy, and the cabin can seem a bit small when a trip gets to the 3rd or 4th hour, but all of the extras more than compensate for it in my opinion.
