1999 Maxima - Luxury Car at Bargain Price?

by   ora-cle ,  Mar 5, 2004
Pros: Engine performance, interior design, build quality, brakes and iron-like reliability
Cons: Slightly rubbery steering feel, suspension, accepts only premium gas
The Bottom Line: Something for everybody, performance, room and reliablity.
Review: I bought a 1999 Maxima GLE in 2002 right around this time of year (March). Since that time, I have put almost 30,000 kms on the car, driven it across Western Canada and back twice in the summers, and used it to ferry our two children to school and my ...

I had my Maxima, and you?

by   Kenchiw ,  Oct 1, 1999
Pros: luxury comfort with excellent performance
Cons: minor change in form
Review: What does this slogan "four-door sports car" appear to you? Well, that's Maxima as you may already know. I discovered more than I expect after taking the wheeling for a drive. Indeed, its characteristics make it fun to drive in any occasion....

I cannot say enough about this car

by   tygiganto ,  Jul 11, 2005
Pros: EVERYTHING from the engine to the trunk
Cons: Handling could have used a little more work
The Bottom Line: I would recommend the Maxima to anybody because it is affordable, fast, RELIABLE, comfortable and luxurious.
Review: The maxima is a genuine automobile. The 1999 maxima includes some great features that the over 4th generation maximas don't have including the ambient air temperature feature and various other goodies. This was my first car and I have to say I love just ...

Feel the Power (sorry NFL)

by   pweisenberg ,  Nov 27, 1999
Pros: suspension, sleek lines, satisfaction
Cons: can be expensive after all the extas
Review: You’ve heard all the hype and seen all the Ads, the Nissan Maxima is truly a four door sports car. You can't help but get a "rush", when your behind the wheel and "open it up", while driving down an open country road.

While...

The Maxima is the best car in its class, period.

by   minervamaxima ,  Jun 1, 2007
Pros: Roomy, dead reliable, luxurious, quick, safe, economical
Cons: Stock CD player issues
The Bottom Line: ***While it's pretty hard to go wrong with a Maxima, always have any used car examined thoroughly by a mechanic before you purchase it.***
Review: When you think 'sports car,' I'll bet the first thing that comes to your mind is a red Corvette with a girl in a frilly bikini standing beside it. Or maybe you envision a BMW M6 speeding along a winding mountain road in some foreign country, drifting ...

Love this car and you will too!

by   mema_ruth ,  Jan 7, 2000
Pros: comfortable, roomy, agile and low maintenance
Cons: none
Review: The first new car my husband and I purchased in the last 10 years was the 1999 Nissan Maxima. We wanted a reliable car that would not be in the shop every other week like some of the other cars we have had over the years. We own a 1986 Jaguar, need I...

Nissan has a winner with this one!

by   divewjason ,  Sep 6, 2007
Pros: Engine power, a lot of features, reliable, sporty look, great air conditioning system
Cons: premium gas recommended, factory paint job not so good, factory cd player doesn't last long
The Bottom Line: The Maxima is a solid choice for any consumer on the market for a good quality used car.
Review: On August 13, 2007 a Dodge Ram failed to yield to the right of way and pulled out in front of me driving my beloved 2001 Chevy Prizm. My car was totaled. I spent a few weeks in a rental car(See my 2007 Malibu review) while I was looking for another car. ...

Enjoying the ride since I got it!

by   uclagee ,  Feb 20, 2001
Pros: Smooth engine that loves to rev and never gives you a problem. Excellent value too!
Cons: Exterior styling is either love it or hate it, resale not so good.
The Bottom Line: If you are shopping around for a family sedan, the Maxima beats EVERYTHING in its price range, hands down. Read my lengthy review!
Review: Nissan puts out a fine set of automobiles. Unfortunately, Honda and Toyota have brainwashed Americans into thinking that the Accord and Camry are the best mid-size family sedan. If you are in the market for a mid-size Japanese family sedan, I bet you...

Where are all the 5 speeds?

by   michaeljnugent ,  Apr 11, 2000
Pros: Terrific engine, 5 speed, solid package
Cons: Bland styling
Review: Shopping for a 6 cylinder, 5 speed manual, 4 door, midsize sedan in North America is an exercise in frustration and lack of choice. Thank you Nissan for providing a product for those of us who still enjoy "rowing our own" transmission. North...

Low Price for Lots of Performance

by   edgeman ,  Nov 23, 2001
Pros: Engine, Interior, Everything works, Value
Cons: Front seats could be more comfortable
The Bottom Line: A great alternative to an entry level BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or other car in the same class that cost much more. This is a great, reliable, well priced car!
Review: My dad had a 1990 Pontiac 6000LE. There was a spring poking into my dad's butt so he had to put a pillow on the seat, the car was rusting, there was loads of paint that got peeled off, and the heater didn't work very well. So needless to say, he decided ...
