I own a 4x2 single cab in Guatemala, where almost all the streets and roads are filled with huge path holes, big stones, heavy rain, and the Nissan Pick Up has no problem evading all obstacles or comfronting them. Excellent acceleration when it takes to pass the Jaulas Cañeras (Sugar Cane trailers) that hauls extra wagons full of sugar cane; therefore in the curved roads -no highways exist- of Guatemala you have little time, little visual to pass these monsters that have to zig zag uphill. In conclusion the pick up height, its strong engine is the right choice for forgotten countries like Guatemala.
The quality of materials is superb, no sign of corrosion. It can hauls 500-700lbs handling as it doesn´t have load, 1000lbs just decrease 10% on power and handling. 2000lbs are easily carried, although the load lowers it. These trucks are used in Guatemala to carry cows, pigs, horses. A cow can easily weight 2500-3000lbs and the nissan truck has no problem, going at 60mph.
Just have to say that the quality, power, handling are superb. It has better handling in the narrow streets of Guatemala than the smaller Suzukies.
I think just the fuel comsuption can be improved, maybe to 27mpg. And take off the Firestone tires, replace them with any other brand, and no problem with carrying your cows. The Firestones have a great tendency to explode, instead of slow air leaks.
The Nissans trucks are a good option for those who need to work; even better than V8's which are not able to transport cows, pigs or horses. Compared with V8`s monster like the Ford F150 they have better fuel economy and can haul the same load at a better speed in curve filled roads.
