1997 Maxima: The best car I've ever owned

I'm 57 years old and I've owned a lot of cars in the past forty years. I bought my 1997 GLE in October of 1999 just coming off its lease. It had 35,000 miles on the odometer. It now has 121,400 and still rides and looks like a new car. This car does it all. It handles almost like a sports car in tight situations. It accelerates like a Corvette when you want it too. It seats five adults comfortably with room to spare. And it has an uncanny ability to somehow 'sense' when I need maximum (Maxima?) performance and never fails to kick into that passing gear at just the right fraction of a second when it really counts. It has never let me down. Never. As for the car's looks, well, I've heard it said that its styling is bland, and I must admit that my sister's 1996 'plain Jane' model champagne-colored Maxima does have a rather dull appearance. But my dark brown (rosewood) GLE with the pin striping, swirling alloy wheels and black leather seats is, in my opinion, still one of the best looking cars on the road. There is a certain balance and symmetry to the design that has seldom been acheived in family sedans. Add to that the GLE's wonderful climate control system and awesome Bose stereo CD player and you've got a package that is hard to beat. I still like it better than the two succeeding generations of Maxima and I'll keep my car until the day it dies---and then probably restore it again anyway. I highly recommend this beautiful machine to anyone.
