"Bullet Proof" Reliability

by   dlee6074 ,  Apr 5, 2004
Pros: Reliability, performance
Cons: Engine may stall on few extreme cases
The Bottom Line: I've never met any Maxima owner who didn't love his/her car, except maybe one. He purchased his used -- with unknown history. Maxima is one solid car.
Review: After driving my 1993 Maxima SE for the past 10 years (over 150,000 miles), I have to say I am a firm Maxima believer. Starting recently, I like to tell others that "Not even a single light bulb burned out in ten years!" Not one headlight, not one ...

Great sports sedan back then and still today!

by   alexnds ,  Feb 19, 2008
Pros: Power, styling, handling
Cons: no fold down rear seats
The Bottom Line: Very good roomy sedan with good smooth power delivery
Review: I had a 1992 Nissan Maxima GXE and had it for 11 years. For those not familiar with the car, the GXE had the 165 HP Single Overhead Motor while the SE had the 190 HP Dual Overhead Cam Motor and Variable Valve timing. The two models are essentially the ...

Hail to the Max, It's better than most new cars!

by   Mikeman075 ,  Jun 23, 2000
Pros: Performance, quality, value, comfort, reliability, timeless style
Cons: Some features and ergonomics are dated, non-folding rear seat
The Bottom Line: The '89-'94 Nissan Maxima was well ahead of its time. Many of today's cars still can't top it!
Review: Nissan really hit the jackpot in 1989 when they introduced the third generation Maxima. Stylish and powerful it was a less costly alternative to cars such as the Acura Legend and Mercedes 190E. It had a smooth 160 horsepower 3.0 liter SOHC V6 called...

Pros: Power, interior space, exterior styling, price

I'll never let this go!

by   njd6524 ,  Feb 4, 2002
Pros: Roomy, comfortable, stylish, powerful/fast
Cons: Cup holders in the glove compartment aren't very practical
The Bottom Line: You have to buy this car and see for yourself what it feels like to be behind the wheel
Review: In 99, I bought a 93 maxima SE. it was wonderful! it had climate control, which you don't usually find in cars that age, Bose stereo, which sounded awsome, a power sunroof, a spoiler, What more could you ask for? I fell in love with it at first sight....

The Maxima Is The Maximum Ride

by   krazyd ,  Jul 3, 2001
Pros: Gorgeous, lightning fast, roomy and stylish.
Cons: Factory suspension is too stiff and the car's external noise could be lessened a bit.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend to the new or experienced car driver, that is looking for a reliable and sporty looking car.
Review: It was my senior year of high school and I had just passed my road test and I was looking for a stylish, fast and not-to-pricey ride. I had spent some time going to dealerships looking at other cars (ex: Honda Accord, Jeeps, Jettas), but I never found...

97 BMW 328i sport: the only sedan worthy of my Maxima!

by   JazzcatCB ,  Sep 17, 2000
Pros: Terrific cornering, acceleration, stereo, and build/materials quality.
Cons: Some components of this car do not live up to it's sporty potential
Review: I LOVED my 93 Maxima SE!!! I nearly wept when I sold her. She was a genuine sweetheart, and she could be a wicked, bad girl when in the right mood ;-D A year ago I replaced her with my current ride: a 97 BMW 328i sport 5 speed. If you need convincing...

Still Superior, eight years later!

by   karlconsumer ,  Aug 25, 2001
Pros: Reliability, powertrain, style, smoothness
Cons: No power lock switches on passenger doors.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a used car, check out the Maxima's! There is a reason why they have been referred to as the "Poor man's BMW."
Review: I was driving around a 1991 Ford Probe GL that had 113,000 miles on it, and I didn't think that it was going to last much longer. That's when I decided I needed a new (but used) car. I have always had an affection for Nissan Maxima's ever since I...

What a Car!

by   mrgolf ,  Jan 12, 2000
Pros: Very reliable, and sporty vehicle
Cons: No cup holder
Review: The 1993 Nissan Maxima SE has been the best car I have ever owned, and when I go to buy another car you better believe it will be a Maxima. I bought my Maxima 5 years ago after trading in an Eagle Summit. My parents had a Toyota Camery, and the...

93' Maxima is great!

by   altosaxgirl ,  Apr 28, 2000
Pros: nice style, great safety
Cons: road noise could be better, brakes could be better
Review: My parents bought this vehicle (93' Nissan Maxima) because it was very sturdy and a heavy car. (Which a few years later may have been what possibly saved my sister's life in an automobile accident.)

I LOVE this car because it has nice looks,...
