Author's Review
For a little background, I have never owned a new car. I started driving back in '93 and in that time I have owned 6 cars, this little Sentra Wagon being the most recent. It is a 1984 Sentra Wagon that I bought in 1998. Until that time, I had never owned a car that I had to renew the registration on. I've already renewed the registration on this car twice and plan to next year also.
As will happen with a car 16 years old and running over 210,000 miles, I've had to replace a few things, but it has never been anything major, and nothing I couldn't do myself or with a little help from a book. It currently gets 33 mpg during summer when I have to use the AC in humid Arkansas, but normally gets closer to 36 mpg. (I only use this car to commute so they're mostly highway miles). I admit that I would sell this car in a heartbeat if I was in the market for a new car, but until then this is the car for me.
Just as an afterthought for those who are looking for a dependable used car, most cars made by Japanese manufacturers in the 80's were good cars, Honda, Nissan, and Toyota being the primary manufacturers. I admit, there's not a pretty car in the group ('80's style cars are out these days), but they'll get you where you need to go with decent mpg. The price is usually right too!
