Author's Review
I recently traded in a 2005 Trailblazer for a 2008 Maxima SE.I became interested in the Maxima after going to the Nissan dealership a few times just to look and when my mother purchased an Altima. One day I test drove one and immediately fell in love with it. The car has a well-designed exterior. I have had so many compliments and catch people turning their heads when I pass by. The interior is okay, roomy even for me (6'7" tall), and have had three other adult passenger inside with no trouble. There is plenty of room in the trunk also. The cabin is also very quiet with no wind noise and the sound system is great, even though it is not the Bose system. The performance of the Maxima is outstanding. I have had no problems with torque steer during maximum acceleration and the car really hugs the curves.Gas mileage is exceptional for the size car but could be better. There is just so much power from the award winning VQ engine. The CVT transmission really puts the power to the ground and is very smooth. The best acceleration comes from the MANUAL mode, this mode has simulated ratios that allow the driver to shift as you would with a conventional transmission. You won't have any problems with the car unless you make alot of U-turns. The turning radius for the Maxima is very wide. If buying this car it is best to go ahead and spend the extra for the Platinum Package, which includes the XM satellite radio, Bose sound, six disc in-dash changer, and bluetooth connectivity for phones just to name a few. I am anxious to see if the car will be redesigned in 2009 and may trade for one of those. I financed through Nissan Motor and would have to say that it is probably the easiest financing I have ever gotten. They also offered great rebates on the Maxima and still have rebates available.
For about fifteen years I have owned Chevrolets and still like Chevrolets but Nissan did a great job with this one and I may never leave Nissan. To me the Maxima is the perfect combination of sports and luxury
