Should you buy a Wii this Christmas? My opinion...
Date of Review: Dec 3, 2007
The Bottom Line: Buy a Wii this holiday season. It's an easy system that packs a ton of fun punches for gamers and non-gamers alike.
is that you should, for a variety of reasons.
1. The Wii is a great family game system. No one in my house likes "video games" but everyone loves the Wii. I don't think it's the perfect gift for the most hardcore gamers, the Wii isn't intended for extended long-play games, although they exist for the system. Wii is a system that Grandmom can play with grandson, parents can play with kids, and all relatives can enjoy.
2. The Wii is extremely easy to set-up and start using, for all ages. You do not need to have vast video game experience to enjoy using the Wii. Start out with the free included Wii Sports and have fun bowling, playing tennis, boxing, golfing and playing baseball. I have purchased several extra games since buying my Wii about 6 months ago but Wii Sports is still my favorite. Everyone at your holiday party will have a blast with the Wii.
3. Everyone wants one! These are the fastest selling game system of all time for a reason. They are a ton of fun, easy to use and offer a good variety of available games.
Those are the reasons why I think you should buy a Wii this season, below are my "review" thoughts on the product.
The Wii system was extremely easy to set up out of the box, even to connect to my home's wireless network. You will need to connect to a network to download games from the Wii store, share Mii characters with friends, etc.
Some of my first thoughts - Wow, this thing is awesome! I am not a hardcore gamer but I did notice that the graphics are not on par with Playstation, but I think that move was intentional. Don't compare Wii to all other systems but take it for what it us, a true original! The graphics are great for games like Wii Sports, shooting games, Mario games, etc. I started playing as soon as the box was open and my wife and I had a GREAT time. I'll say it again, so easy to use. No problems at the start.
I have now had the Wii for several months and have bought several new games for it. I can say that I don't use it as much as I first did, I also don't have tons of spare time. My wife and I use it a lot when we have friends over, everyone wants to play and this is the best party game ever invented.
The internet features (as I'll call them) include live weather feeds, news updates and the Wii store where you can purchase old school Nintendo and Sega games. This is my favorite Wii feature, I love playing these classic games.
Email me with specific questions - I am someone who came from knowing and caring nothing about video games to a Wii user ho is very, very satisfied.
