If you don't already know what this product is, allow me to elaborate.
By connecting your Nintendo Wii to the internet (3 ways: Nintendo WiFi USB Connect, Wireless Internet setup, Wired Internet Setup [using LAN adapter]), you can access the Wii Shop Channel.
This program, if you will, allows you to purchase older games from previous systems (ranging from the Nintendo Entertainment System to the Nintendo 64). You can pay by two methods:
1) Using a Wii Points card purchased at any retailer
-OR-
2) Using a credit card to buy Wii Points in increments of $10
Once you enter points into your virtual account, you can browse the Shop for games and software updates (including th e Opera Web Browser).
If you decide to purchase a game, you have a few options on how to play it. Some titles allow you to use the Wii Remote (held horizontally, like an NES Controller), a GameCube Controller, and of course, the Classic Controller.
The Classic Controller plugs directly into the extension port of the Wii Remote (located at the bottom of the controller). You can then use the controller to play the games, as per the Operations Manual. (To view the Operations manual, press the Home button during the gameplay of a downloaded game, and select "Operations Manual.")
The Classic Controller wields an array of buttons. There is the L and R buttons, located on the top of the controller. This buttons are similar to the GameCube's shoulder buttons. In addition, Z1 and Z2 buttons can be found adjacent to the L and R buttons. In between the Z1 and Z2 buttons is a switch, with currently unknown uses. (I have contacted Nintendo about this; if you want information, please contact me.)
Also, the controller sports two analog sticks, a 4-way directional pad, +, -, and Home buttons, and A, B, X, and Y buttons.
These buttons' commands depend on the game.
The Classic Controller can be found at most retail stores, approximating at about $19.99.
I have one, and I love it. It works great, and looks very sleek with the other Wii Equipment. If you're going to play classic games, you'll definitely want this add-on.
