The first Mario Galaxy review :D

I felt this was reason enough for me to write a review. But where to begin.

Here is the thing... every once in awhile, a game comes out that just blows ones mind away and completely scrambles the brain with awesome. This is not that game. This is even rarer then the brain scrambler. This is sort of a head explosion that turns your brain goo into delicious gummi bears and skittles. But you're probably wondering. Mascot1063 (that's me) why do you think this game is that good?

THIS is where you find out.

The Story: 5/5 Mario is invited to Peach's castle to get a gift during the shooting star festival until Bowser attacks the castle bringing it to outer space. Mario is dragged to space and then immediately sent into the depths only to be rescued by Princess Roselina. Yeah... That's really all there is to it... But... I don't know... there is something you can't help but love about this simple story line. I mean has Mario EVER needed a compelling story? I think not.

Concept: 5/5 The key to this game is to save the Stars from Bowser and his henchmen by running through space. To do this, Mario must jump from tiny planet to tiny planet as he makes his way to each star. What is interesting is each planet has it's own gravity pull and Mario can walk along the surface while fighting baddies, grabbing star pieces and coins. Very neat idea Nintendo! One thing I have definitely noticed though is it is alot similar to Mario 64 as far as level select and exploration goes (which I go by the philosophy, if it aint broke, don't fix it).

Gameplay: 6/5 (Even if I can't technically go above 5 >_>)
That's a high number. The highest I have ever given. But for good reason I give this game such a good score on gameplay. I admit, it's a little tough to get use to the controls, especially when Mario goes upside down. But as time goes by, it becomes easier and easier. And then it just becomes a blast. This is basically your same Mario controls, but it is done differently. To issue a spin, you must shake the wiimote. To jump you press A (and you can issue three jump combo if timed correctly) and you shoot star pieces at enemies with the B button. This brings up something neat. The wiimote always flashes a blue star on the screen to wherever it is pointing. You can shoot enemies, bubbles and what not. And if it is aimed at star chips, the star chips come right to you. And whats even better is that a second player can help you with star chip collection and shot. Way to go Nintendo. Now here is something else I find rather clever. Mario has new costumes from the Boo costume (mario turns to a ghost) Ice costume (mario turns to Ice), spring costume (mario turns into a spring) and Bee costume (mario wears a Bee costume). The boo costume lets you go through walls, while the bee costume lets you fly and climb on honey. The Ice costume lets you walk on water, while the spring costume lets you to jump really high. And let's not forget two classics. Rainbow mario (invincibility baby) and fire mario (burn baby burn). With so many costumes and techniques how can you *head explodes into Gummi Bears and skittles*

Sound: 5/5 Heheh what do you expect to hear from Mario? Nothing more then Woohoo, Yahooo, and Here we go! What more is there to love? And the sound affects fit so well as well. But where it truly shines is the music. The music is somewhat a mix between Mario and Sci-Fi feel while all being orchestrated beautifully. And what is really awesome is the old Mario tunes that are remixed for minigames. It is enough to put a tear in your *head explodes*

Difficulty: 5/5 This is Mario alright. It seems easy at first, but as levels go by, the enemies are ridiculous and the black holes (this games pits) are treacherous. But this is what you come to expect when playing Mario games. What Mario game was easy as time went on. That would make it disappointing to no ends. So I have to thank the gods that this game is difficult. It makes the reward oh so sweeter.

Other: 5/5 This game has quite a few minigames and secrets. When seeking your goal in levels, ALWAYS explore and you may find some hidden objectives to get new stars and open new planets (I found a Yoshi Head). The minigames are a blast from jumping across a candy bridge with moving holes, to rolling on a star ball and surfing on a sting ray. There is always something to do in this title... Unless you actually unlock everything... THEN PLAY IT AGAIN!

Hello. I am Mascot1063 IV. I am here to review the graphics cause number III's head blew up. *janitor breaks broom and quits.* The graphics... Well... they are simply beautiful. The water moves so fluidly, the backgrounds are beautiful star systems that just make the sci fi in you quiver with joy. And the characters look so lush and natural, that it makes you wish you were in the game with them jumping around. It truly is beautiful. This is why I decided to review this part last (except for replay).

Replay-Overall: 5/5 Face it. This game is just everything you asked for in a mario game. From the graphics, to the music, game play, you know you are going to come back. I know I will. There is no way you can't. This game is beyond perfect in every way shape and form. Nintendo always seems to do something right. They have made a few mistakes in the past, but they learned from them. And you can tell from this game.
