The new Nikon D70s and Nikkor AF-S DX f/3.5-f4.5/18-70mm G IF-ED Zoom |
|||||||||||||
|
Pros: Very fast, solid build quality, excellent image quality, and very good battery life
Cons: Images slightly soft at default settings and No USB 2.0
The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line: The new Nikon D70s -- If it aint broke ya dont need to fix it
Review: Canons EOS D350/Digital Rebel XT was a revolutionary re-design of the original Rebel, but Nikons new D70s is more an evolutionary update of the dLSR that POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY magazine chose as its CAMERA OF THE YEAR in 2004. ...

Pros: Great quality.
Cons: I'm broke.
The Bottom Line: The Nikon D70s is an excellent camera. If you think it will fit your needs, buy it.
Review: After dropping my Nikon F65 35mm SLR down a scree slope, and then more recently submerging it in the Pacific Ocean, I thought it might not be a bad idea to get a new and improved camera a digital SLR. At the same time, I was hesitant to go and ...

Pros: Superb image quality. Fast response.
Cons: Poor automatic white balance.
The Bottom Line: Awesome product. If you are in the market for a DSLR, you need not look further.
Review: Let's get right to the guts of it. I love my Nikon D70. It is, without a doubt, the most powerful and versatile imaging tool I've ever laid my hands on. I've owned other superb P&S digicams, but comparing them to the D70 is an exercise in futility. The ...

Pros: Too many to mention!
Cons: None except the learning curve required!
The Bottom Line: What are you waiting for? Buy it!
Review: If you are the type of person who only uses their digital camera for snap shots, this camera is NOT for you. If, however, you are the type of photographer would like to exercise complete control of your photo taking in a digital format, you'll love the ...

Pros: Low cost, excellent image quality, pro-sumer level camera.
Cons: Lack of GPS support.
The Bottom Line: Fully recommended. Nikon quality, Nikon reputation.
Review: INTRODUCTION: This review will be edited and re-edited over time as I become use to, and learn more about the D70s. I purchased the camera / lens combination - but this review will apply to the body only variant as well. BODY: The D70s is a ...

Pros: great pictures, a lot of options, a lot of accessories.
Cons: Many menu options. Some menu selections revert back to default setting when switching modes.
The Bottom Line: This is a great camera, even if it is an older model. Provides a lot of flexibility, yet, in the auto mode, it is nearly a point and click camera.
Review: As our baby daughter was becoming more mobile, we quickly realized that the run-of-the-mill digital cameras were not up to the task of catching her in action. Most of them have to much latency between when you push the shutter release button until ...

Pros: Fast start,processing,and shutter response
Easy to use
Great image quality
Cons: Bulk. Not a pocket, take anywhere camera.
The Bottom Line: Don't waist your money on a high megapixel point and shoot. Buy the D70. You won't be disappointed.
Review: I recently purchased a new Nikon D70 SLR Kit that included the 18-70mm DX lens. It has been many years since I used a 35mm SLR since I converted to digital back when 2 mg pixel cameras hit the market. I feel as if I have grown up with the digital ...

Pros: Excellent value, great results.
Cons: 1.5 lens factor, RAW + jpg mode. I would like to have RAW only.
The Bottom Line: For the price and features Highly recommended.
Review: First I must explain that I have resisted switching from film cameras to digital for many years. Yes I own a digital point and shoot, I guess everyone does, but as a working pro my Nikon F3, F5 and my medium format cameras have been my mainstay. I got an ...

Pros: everything, from price to usability, and there is a free photography course
Cons: all the software they give you is trial version :(
The Bottom Line: Don't buy it unless you are a real photography enthusiast and are capable of exploring all the possibilities of a real reflex camera, in that case you will be surprised.
Review: I like to have as much control as possible on my photographs, this is why I've always used 35mm reflex cameras with interchangeable lenses. Until now the problem was that a decent digital true SLR was very expensive (and was a Canon). This set gives you ...

Pros: Versatile, flexible, part of a huge system, excellent quality.
Cons: Not as rugged as metal Nikons. Can't meter with non-AF Nikkors.
The Bottom Line: Perfect choice for the experienced amateur or pro looking for their first digital SLR.
Review: I owned a total of six digital cameras before purchasing my D70, ranging from an execrable little Agfa that drained a pair of AAs to produce a dozen terrible VGA shots thorugh a Canon G2 that was a pleasure to use. The Canon was pretty good, with manual ...
