The new Nikon D70s and Nikkor AF-S DX f/3.5-f4.5/18-70mm G IF-ED Zoom

Date of Review:  Jul 3, 2005
The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line: The new Nikon D70s -- If it ain?t broke ya? don?t need to fix it
Review: Canon's EOS D350/Digital Rebel XT was a revolutionary re-design of the original Rebel, but Nikon's new D70s is more an evolutionary update of the dLSR that POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY magazine chose as it's CAMERA OF THE YEAR in 2004. At first glance the...

The Nikon D70s put a dent in my wallet... and my hardwood floor!

Date of Review:  Jun 7, 2006
The Bottom Line: The Nikon D70s is an excellent camera. If you think it will fit your needs, buy it.
Review: After dropping my Nikon F65 35mm SLR down a scree slope, and then more recently submerging it in the Pacific Ocean, I thought it might not be a bad idea to get a new and improved camera – a digital SLR. At the same time, I was hesitant to go and...

The cream of the crop!

Date of Review:  May 7, 2005
The Bottom Line: What are you waiting for? Buy it!
Review: If you are the type of person who only uses their digital camera for snap shots, this camera is NOT for you. If, however, you are the type of photographer would like to exercise complete control of your photo taking in a digital format, you'll love...

An excellent starter digital SLR

Date of Review:  Nov 18, 2008
The Bottom Line: The D70 is a great choice for photographers who have some experience with SLRs but are new to digital.
Review: I purchased the Nikon D70 about two and a half years ago, when I temporarily moved from the United States to Rome, Italy. I had long thought about getting a digital SLR, but both the price and the abandonment of film gave me pause. With an upcoming...

Best Camera we've owned

Date of Review:  Feb 28, 2009
The Bottom Line: This is a great camera, even if it is an older model.  Provides a lot of flexibility, yet, in the auto mode, it is nearly a point and click camera.
Review: As our baby daughter was becoming more mobile, we quickly realized that the run-of-the-mill digital cameras were not up to the task of catching her in action.  Most of them have to much latency between when you push the shutter release button until...

Excellent Entry Level Body With A Few Compromises

Date of Review:  Apr 26, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you can find one used and you want to enter into the world of Digital SLR Photography then this is most certainly a great place to start.
Review: First I would like to note I'm not going to cover every spec of the camera because the specifications can be found on the box or Nikon's website and I refuse to use that as filler like some reviewers will… This is clearly not what this site was...

Great camera, but read this if buying secondhand

Date of Review:  May 31, 2006
The Bottom Line: This was really an excellent model when it was released. The lens is still very good value for its performance. In 2006, though, you have other options.
Review: The Nikon D70 is the only DSLR that I've owned, though I've also used the Canon EOS 300D and 350D (Digital Rebel and Rebel XT resp.). I bought it in 2004, more than 1.5 years ago.

In these 20 or so months, I've shot more than 26,000...

When Going To a Gunfight, Bring a Big Gun

Date of Review:  Aug 7, 2006
The Bottom Line: Awesome product. If you are in the market for a DSLR, you need not look further.
Review: Let's get right to the guts of it. I love my Nikon D70. It is, without a doubt, the most powerful and versatile imaging tool I've ever laid my hands on. I've owned other superb P&S digicams, but comparing them to the D70 is an exercise in futility...

Nikon D70s - Excellent digital SLR

Date of Review:  Mar 20, 2006
The Bottom Line: For the price and features Highly recommended.
Review: First I must explain that I have resisted switching from film cameras to digital for many years. Yes I own a digital point and shoot, I guess everyone does, but as a working pro my Nikon F3, F5 and my medium format cameras have been my mainstay. I...

Love My D70

Date of Review:  May 13, 2008
The Bottom Line: Great buy. You won't be disappointed.
Review: When I decided to upgrade to a digital SLR I felt like I didn't have many options. I already owned a film SLR - the Nikon N65 - and had invested in a few lenses for it. Because Nikon lenses have the motor built into the lens rather than the body...
