The D70s "lite" ? Nikon's new D50 with Nikkor AF-S G DX f/3.5-f5.6/18-55mm Zoom

Date of Review:  Aug 21, 2005
The Bottom Line: The new Nikon D50 provides users with an excellent blend of creative capability, consumer friendly features, and well thought out ease of operation
Review: One of the most remarkable consequences of the past decade is the almost lemming-like parade of consumers jumping on the digital camera bandwagon. Family snap-shooters, casual shutterbugs, and serious amateur photographers worldwide abandoned...

Nikon Got It Right!

Date of Review:  Aug 8, 2005
The Bottom Line: Everything about the Nikon D50 makes sense for the serious photo hobbyist who wants a versatile camera that will produce great results under a wide variety of conditions.
Review: You can think of the Nikon D50 in two ways -- as a very intelligently "dumbed-down" (and less expensive) D70, or as a quantum (and more expensive) leap in terms of versatility and picture quality from even the most expensive P&S digital cameras on...

D50: Poor man's treasure, (updated)

Date of Review:  May 23, 2006
The Bottom Line: I forgot to mention that the battery life is out of this world. If you're in the market, don't let the term "consumer level DSLR" sway you. BUY IT!
Review: I've had my D50 for less than a month so far and let me tell you this thing is more than I wanted.

Initially I was just looking for an affordable way to take great pictures and still have room to hone my photography skills until the day I...

A Great camera that you won't regret buying!

Date of Review:  Feb 6, 2006
The Bottom Line: Great camera at decent price....and you won't really miss features of the D70s
Review: Before going on to the review, a key in whether or not this camera is right for you is whether you need an SLR. I've owned several digital cameras before. I love my Olympus C-3040 when I bought it a few years back for great automatic function and...

Nikon D50 - Perfect for the Serious Amateur

Date of Review:  Aug 17, 2005
The Bottom Line: Buy it if you want good, solid Nikon quality.
Review: Okay, let's do some soul-searching at the front end. If you're looking for a pro digital, stay with the larger formats, not the digital replacements for 35mm film cameras. However, if you are a serious amateur, the Nikon D50 is perfect. I've used...

Great step up from point & shoot

Date of Review:  Mar 27, 2006
The Bottom Line: Excellent camera for any photography enthusiast, or even as a backup camera body for a professional.
Review: This is a truly amazing camera. Let me start by saying that I am a Canon user who has been converted to Nikon by the D50, since it offers basically the same amount of camera as the Canon Rebel XT for about $200 less (6.1 versus 8.0 megapixels, but...

An alternative to the Rebel

Date of Review:  Dec 5, 2005
The Bottom Line: A quality alternative the the Rebel, makes a great camera for sports nuts, or parents of sports kids.
Review: Let me first say, that this not a long term review, but based on a personal comparison of the two leading dSLR models in this sub $750 market. I used the D50 for a day and I liked it.

Nikon D50 with 18-55mm lens, this is the camera that...

Simple complexity!

Date of Review:  Jan 14, 2006
The Bottom Line: A good camera for the money. You won?t get fed up with it as you can really grow with it.
Review: This is a going to be a short review of an excellent camera. I've worked with more than few digital cameras in my time, from small megapixels units to some pretty serious stuff. This is one of the most serious cameras that I've worked with. It is...

A good starter DSLR

Date of Review:  Jul 10, 2005
The Bottom Line: A great camera designed to take over for the D70 when it's replacement hits the market...but I'd wait for that replacement!
Review: A few folks have complained about the focus of my reviews, so let me explain this one. Most folks looking at the D50 will almost certainly be looking at the D70s as well. My review is aimed at that majority.
I bought a D50 for a cousin as a...

great, pro-sumer camera

Date of Review:  Jan 21, 2007
Review: I am happy with my camera after 4 months of use. (I just wish I had waited until christmas for the price drop.) My wife and I visit zoos and animal sancturaries, so we needed a camera that could capture images quickly. I didn't want to spend a ton...
