Pros: Essential super-wide angle, great optics, fast focusing
Cons: Cost, size and lots of plastic parts
The Bottom Line: Overall, this is the best available super-wide angle lens for Nikon Digital SLRs. If you crave wide open spaces, this lens is for you.
Review: I agonized for weeks over which super-wide angle lens to buy for my Nikon DX systems and in the end I spent the extra money on this one and I'm happy to say that I'm not disappointed. Back in my film days, one of my favorite lenses was the Nikon 20mm ...

Pros: The lens provides sharp images with extraordinary depth of field at 12 mm.
Cons: lens obstructs flash aura casting a shadow at the bottom of the frame.
Review: Since buying the Nikon D-70 in April, 2004 I have used various lenses of various focal lengths. The Nikon Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 12-24 mm has become my favorite. Comparable to a 18-36 mm focal length lens for film usage, the 12-24, when coupled with ...

Digital Gone Wide |

Pros: Sharp images with minimal distortion.
Cons: Less than pro-quality build. Cost.
The Bottom Line: When you need true wide angle capability for Nikon digital camera bodies, this lens is one you'll need to consider.
Review: INTRODUCTION One of the main problems that faced photographers with the rapid advancement of digital camera equipment, especially digital SLRs with their APS sized sensors was that lenses would need to be re-engineered. When film was king, ...

A little short of the mark |

|
Pros: SHARP!!!, low edge distortion, flare resistance, compact size, 77mm filter
Cons: F/4 aperture, reversed zoom and focus rings, mid level construction quality, no weatherproofing
The Bottom Line: You really don't have any choice. Its the only lens in its focal length offered by Nikon and other manufacturers offerings fall short as well. Optically its great.
Review: The Nikkor 12-24mm F/4 ED-IF DX G lens is Nikon's offering for an ultrawide zoom for its digital backs. Any 35mm Nikon user transitioning to digital will certainly need to give this lens serious thought if they wish to continue with wide angle work. ...

Pros: Very sharp, small size, 77 mm filter thread, constant aperture
Cons: Loses sharpness near the edges, slight barrel distortion, expensive
The Bottom Line: If you need sharp ultra-wide coverage for your Nikon D70 or D100 and aren't worried about the price or the DX factor, this is definitely the lens to get.
Review: Introduction Ever since purchasing the Nikon D70 I have been longing for that lovely wide angle I used to have with my old EOS-100. You see, it is not easy to achieve true wide angle coverage with a half-frame digital SLR: due to the crop ...
