An ideal travel lens!

Date of Review:  Oct 12, 2006
Review: 1300 photos in 4 weeks has assured me that this is a great lens (even at the premium prices currently being asked).

Show me another lens that lets you get consistently good images hand held at 1 second and more (@18mm).

I was a...

To buy or not to buy

Date of Review:  Aug 5, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you have the money, spend it on this lens. It's convenient when you want to travel light and does a good job in terms of producing a crisp image.
Review: So in ways the zoom lens has become almost the standard lens people think of buying when they get an SLR. Obviously there are significant drawbacks such as the price, worse aperture, more moving parts which leads to other problems. However on a...

A Small Miracle!

Date of Review:  Feb 9, 2006
The Bottom Line: This is the ultimate travel lens and great for other applications as well. I suspect quite a few professionals will sneak one into their bags.
Review: By now there are enough pro reviews out there for experienced shooters to read the handwriting on the wall. No, this is not a 17-35 and 70-200 wrapped into a tiny package. You can't have that for any amount of money.

The 18-200VR is NOT...

Back to the BASIC

Date of Review:  Oct 21, 2004
The Bottom Line: Those who are traditionalists and still prefer manual focus cameras, this lens would provide a great compliment.
Review: I started writing a review of this lens about two years ago, shortly after I became an epinions member. Then I decided against it (and deleted it from my draft), based on my reason that it is such an old lens and not many people would be interested...

Excellent Lens, Great all purpose carry around lens

Date of Review:  Mar 7, 2007
Review: This is a great lens especially if you are looking for an all purpose carry around lens. The range from 18-200 is fantastic. I have found it to be pretty sharp at all ranges. A little soft at 18 and 200 but extremely sharp through the rest of the...

My Go-To Lens

Date of Review:  Oct 28, 2008
The Bottom Line: Bottom Line, I am very pleased with the performance of the Nikkor 18-200 VR lens and would recommend as a great all-around lens.
Review: I purchased the Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens in May 2008 for use with my D50 and have been very pleased. This has become my go-to lens and I rarely have need for another lens. I have used it during visits to Disney World, trips to the mountains of New...

Awesome lens!

Date of Review:  Feb 21, 2008
The Bottom Line: This lens is a must have for avid photographers and the like. It is possibly the best lens for the Nikon.
Review: If you can afford this lens, it is truly a must have. I own a D50 and I just bought this lens about 4 months ago. Previously, I was using two lenses. I had a wide angle (18-55)and a zoom lens(28-200). It is a pain to have to carry two lenses and...

Beyond worth the money

Date of Review:  Mar 12, 2008
Review: This is beyond outstanding. I bought based on a glowing review on read by David Pogue (the technology columnist for the NYTimes). You can find his review on their site in the tech section. He called it the "Miracle Lens" and I agree. I never use...

Buyer beware! Zoom Creep!

Date of Review:  Jan 31, 2008
Review: When I bought this lens, one year ago, it did not creep. After light use (family/hobby), the lens now slides open from 24mm to 200 when in a vertical position. Nikon tells me this in an inherent characteristic of this lens due to the heavy weight of...

The Last Lens I Will Need

Date of Review:  Feb 21, 2008
The Bottom Line: If I lost this lens, I would be replacing it immediately. (And crying over the cost...)
Review: I had been wanting this lens since I first bought my D40X camera last Summer. I am not a pro, so I was not too concerned with the questions of image quality on the edges of the lens's range. Just wanted to get closer to the kids' soccer games. When...
