HP PSC 1510 xi All-in-One
Printer Scanner Copier
Sleek Compact Design for Home Office or Personal Use
Upside
Borderless Printing, Digitally send files and scans to email, print your pictures directly from the printer without a computer. I also enjoy the side panel, it has very easy to use features such as resizing and choosing paper, number of copies, black or color. These features come in very handy when copying.
Downside
As I will describe in more detail below in the section titled noise, I think that explains the worst downside to this wonderful all-in-one unit.
Design
A sleek gray-white rectangle that fits just about anywhere. The scanner bed door and paper feed tray complement each other to create a closed box. Simplistic...very few buttons and stickers, a clean piece of technology. The one thing that helps non-techies use an electronic device is either through prior instruction or a simple design that leads the user to where there fingers should be. For instance, a keyboard generally has two little indicators of where to put your fingers, this gives the user a map of how to initially begin typing. On this printer, there is a simple on/off button that is practically by itself saying push me. Then on the top there are 8 buttons placed vertical, very easy to read and understand. This printer is a 10 out of 10 for design and ease of use.
Noise
Be sure to place this item on a flat stable surface such as a sturdy desk or filing cabinet. If not, the unit will shake and possibly tip over. This is due to the speed at which the unit will try to print.
On that point, the speed is heard quite noisily. It is not quite at all, if you want something that will run without disturbing your sleeping baby then do not purchase this one. However, I feel that if this is not a problem you need to purchase this one for sure: price, design, and quality all in one box.

Is this the right one for me?
Do you need a fax? Well if you do this is not the machine for you unless you are like me and do not prefer to have a fax machine with your printer. I find that the fax printer units generally have great problems and malfunctions.
However, that is not all. What will you be using this for? Personal Use, Home Office or Small Business. If this is for personal use, excellent choice. For Home Office: it depends if you want to print a lot of documents. If so, I suggest moving up the HP line to something like the 1320 laserjet, capability for higher volumes. Small business: this is great for scanning and copying, but like the home office, if you want something that can print at higher volumes, get something else. But in the end, its a copier and a scanner which you always need!

In the End
I love it. I can scan anything within seconds and have it online before my old scanner could even finish. Easy to print my pictures from my digital camera, just plug and play. It has a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi for scanning to get a high quality image. The option of scanning for OCR, to read the text into a file. Easy software, simple. Great print quality all for less than $100! Now you cannot beat that.
Be sure to register the device to receive updates and patches for the software and any future recall information, if any. It comes with a standard 1 year warranty. By it from costco and you will have a lifetime warranty and it only costs $70 at costco ($20 mail in rebate).
