Well, I gotta admit, I absolutely LOVE this little camera! I love everything about it! Ease of use, small compact design, awesome pic quality, image stabilization, excellent quality zoom.......All makes for one of the best small camera's on the market!
So many great features:
1) 10 Megapixels produce some of the nicest quality photos
2) Image Stabilization, helps for those "shaky" shots
3) 4X Optical Zoom (Nikkor Lens)
4) World's Fastest Startup
5) "In Camera" Red Eye reduction system
6) 15 Scene Modes!!!
7) "Face Priority" (This is so cool!!!) This is Nikon’s face-finding technology that quickly finds and focuses on up to 12 faces in a group portrait.
8) And...... D-Lighting. This feature will rescue pictures that are too dark for printing by enhancing the underexposed areas of the picture while not touching the properly exposed areas.
Jeeesh.......What next? A camera that has "Smile Recognition"?
Oh yeah, Nikon has one of those too! :)
If you want those features, jump to the S550 model for Smile Recognition, and "Blink Warning"!
I'm NOT kidding!
I've only had this camera for a few months now, but, I have taken many shots with it, and each shot is awesome. The Nikon software is very user-friendly (Unlike some of Sony's interface software....holy crap). The camera turns on in the blink of an eye, and it's a cool color (Black), and the camera is SO easy to use.
From the rear mounted Menu Wheel, changing modes....it's a foolproof camera, that really gives professional pictures!
It's a sweet little camera that I am VERY pleased with!
This coming from a guy who prefers OLDER Minolta (1970's era), traditional SLR cameras, and I am an amatuer/semi-pro photographer. My main field of photography is Deep Sky objects (Planets, Nebulae, Moon, Solar...etc) and things of that nature. So, I'm not a "newbie" to cameras. But, let's face it, who the hell wants to carry an old SLR to the beach? Yeah, nothin' cooler than strappin' a 10 pound camera around your neck on the beach!
Anyway, this is one of the best cameras I have owned. Do yourself a favor, hit your local camera shop, and give this little beast a "test drive".
