Nikon Coolpis S210 - Great Everyday Camera!
Date of Review: Jul 24, 2009
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a small digital camera for everyday use.
The shutter lag of this camera is very good for its class if the camera is already in focus. The lag time nearly doubles (~1sec in good lighting) when focus is required. Focus time seems to lengthen in dim or poor lighting conditions.
With a zoom of only 3x, I wasn’t expecting to get to close to distant objects so with that in mind it’s not bad. I found the auto focus options are nice. You can choose between face priority, auto (chooses closets object within one of nine areas), manual (choose focus area from 99 areas), and center frame.
The flash on the camera is not a limiting factor on how fast you can take shots. From my experience, the flash is ready by the time the camera is focused and ready to take the next shot. Again there is a longer delay in poor lighting mainly because of focusing limitations.
Battery life is not bad either. I am consistently able to get around 200 shots before changing the battery.
My only complaint is the amount of time it takes this camera to turn on. This only becomes a problem when an unexpected picture opportunity comes along. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a small digital camera for everyday use.
