A great book, but not his greatest

I have been a fan of Nicholas Sparks' books for quite a few years. Upon hearing of the release of "Nights in Rodanthe" as a movie I was tempted to read this book again.

Nicholas Sparks is a great author to read if you like romantic yet realistic books. Most of his books take place in the south and are filled with all the charm you would expect from a small town in the deep south. Most of his leading male characters are the kind of men who would defend your honor and your love to the death and would spend the entire day playing in the back yard with your kids.

Like many of Nicholas Sparks' other books "Nights in Rodanthe" is filled with subtle but intense love. It will take you on an emotional roller coaster. The story is slow and gentle, but not so slow it will put you to sleep. It is not action packed or filled with tons of characters, a bulk of the story only involves the the two main characters.

If you have never read Nicholas Sparks before, I suggest reading "The Notebook" first or "A Bend in the Road". While not as good as "The Notebook", "Nights in Rodanthe" is a great book. It would also make a good gift for a person dealing with heartbreak or the loss of a loved one.
