Author's Review

Next with Nicholas Cage is my kind of movie! Exciting and action packed while the main character sees into the future! I have to say it is one of the better movies that I have seen lately! I just happened to run across it at my local library this morning and am glad I did! Maybe I foresaw a great film! As always I have no idea what you know or do not know about this movie, if you don't want to be spoiled a little, click away. Go ahead, I am fine with that.

Cris Johnson can see into the future, but only two minutes into the future and only his future. This comes in handy at his job working for a casino doing magic tricks. This doesn't pay well so he does gamble a little but never against other people and never for large amounts. We see him do a show and notice there are FBI agents undercover in the audience. Afterwards he heads to the casino to gamble and there are people watching him trying to decide if he is cheating. Just as they decide to go get him to discuss it, he looks up at the camera and scoots out of there. The way he escapes while dozens of people are chasing him was nothing short of a miracle! The FBI agents want him so he can help them find terrorists who have a nuclear bomb in the city. Cris stays one step ahead of them and eventually meets up with a girl and heads out of town with her. The girl Liz has caused Cris to see larger amounts of time surrounding her. Then the terrorists find out about Cris and start chasing him too. Eventually leading to a standoff when they hold Liz hostage. Will Cris work with the FBI or keep losing their tail? Will Liz survive? Will Cris find the nuclear bomb before it goes off? Do the terrorists kill Cris?

I felt as if I were watching Lost with all of the flash forwards and flash backwards or was that present time? Everything seemed like it was happening right now but then we learn it was a flash forward and Cris can change what actually happens in the present. Really hard to take the action seriously as Cris can change the circumstances! It was well done as viewers think it is all real and then find out oh, that was a vision. Or was it? Cris flashes two minutes into the future and then can do something different to change it. One part that I did not like was Cris splitting into more than one person, that was odd and distracting. The film kept me tuned in from the first moment, it was that good! There were killings but no gore to it. The surprising twists were the cherry on top for me. Highly recommend Next!
