Nevermind the Hype -- Just Listen to a Great Album.

by   PacManY2J , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Mar 23, 2009
Pros: Good mix of hard rock anthems, gritty punk, and moving soft songs.
Cons: Overproduced
The Bottom Line: Overhyped?  Sure.  But that doesn't make Nevermind any less enjoyable.
Review: To say commercial expectations for Nirvana's second album Nevermind were low would be a massive understatement.  Geffen records hoped the album would sell 250,000 copies.  Four months after its release, it was selling 300,000 copies a ...

Oh well, but Nevermind....

by   cripper ,  Mar 16, 2002
Pros: Everything!
Cons: People might not like the negativity portrayed throughout the album
The Bottom Line: This is a great album and I say you must buy this album!
Review: Nirvana will forever be remembered because of Kurt Cobain. Cobain was perhaps the most controversial rock star of this decade. At the peak of his fame, he apparently shot himself, leaving behind his wife (who, of course is Courtney Love), daughter,...

"Nevermind" Nirvana... a little Praise for Kurt Cobain

by   zenmachado ,  Mar 24, 2004
Pros: Non conforming rocking out soul giving music.
Cons: The time it took for me to find out that it has a hidden track.
The Bottom Line: Nirvana is one of the most influential bands of the 90's.
Review: Nirvana... this band has a place right next to The Beatles, The Who, The Beach Boys, and all other major influential rock bands. Nirvana changed rock, in such a way that it was never the same again. Kurt Cobain the front man of this grunge band, ...

Raw notes on raw notes

by   blksqul ,  Jan 21, 2004
Pros: .
Cons: .
The Bottom Line: .
Review: Well, journal, looks like it's you and me again tonight. Which is fine. DGC -- an imprint of David Geffen I believe (note to self: look this up) -- has just sent over a pressed copy of a new CD from some band in Aberdeen, Wash. Nirvana, Nevermind. ...

Here's to you Sid.....

by   ezreka ,  Sep 11, 2006
Pros: Everything
Cons: Kurt Cobain is dead
The Bottom Line: It doesn't matter that it is 15 years old, The Beatles are older than that and they are still great.
Review: I remember when this album came out, it truly was the voice of my generation. I was going along listening to nothing but classic rock with a little rap thrown in (when I wanted to think I was cool). Then one day I walked by my friends brothers bedroom ...

One of us was lying when he said I don't have a gun

by   pyfr ,  Feb 3, 2008
Pros: Mammoth sound, cutting voice, strong melodic hooks. Appealing in its simplicity. Different for its time.
Cons: The second half sounds tired in places. I hear no mysticism in Kurt's lyrics.
The Bottom Line: I'm not about to hail it as the punk album of my generation, but it did deconstruct hard rock music as we knew it then.
Review: Here are Pyfr’s basic beliefs about Nevermind, specifically its place in music history and its accomplishments. The success of Nirvana’s second album had as much to do with the state of the music industry then as it did with Kurt Cobain ...

The obligatory unrevelatory celebratory review of Nevermind

by   jf-gb ,  Nov 4, 2004
Pros: Lyrics, Fun and emotional, musicianship is superb
Cons: It isn't as good as In Utero
The Bottom Line: Keep any talent you own away from Dave Grohl
Review: **pointless rambling, probably safer to skip it** Yes I know Epinions hardly needs yet another 5 star review of Nevermind. And frankly I didn’t actually intend to write one until just recently. You see on my last review of Pearl Jam’s ...

Smells Like...A Great Record!

by   JiggyJay , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Mar 13, 2003
Pros: EVERYTHING
Cons: NOTHING
The Bottom Line: buy it, people.
Review: Nirvana is a wonderful band that set the pace for modern day hard rock/punk rock/indie/whatever. I’m sure a lot of people say this, but I would just like to re enforce it: Nirvana was far ahead of their time. At that time in the 90s, there were only...

It's so darn good

by   china_doll ,  Jun 2, 2004
Pros: This album is absolutely awesome
Cons: Endless, Nameless is not on every copy
The Bottom Line: Living without this album is like living without the sun-Impossible.
Review: Nevermind is one of those quintessential albums that without your life is meaningless. It's awesome. From the most well known guitar riff of the 1990s, to the song that is entirely built on a lie, this album is great. Released in 1991, ...

YET another review of "Nevermind": Ten years after his death, it's still not yet stale

by   anorexorxia ,  Apr 10, 2004
Pros: Awesome, almost flawless rock music. Great poetry. No filler. Plenty of hits. Memorable riffs.
Cons: Despite all the praise I gave it, the media attention is still WAY too much.
The Bottom Line: This is a must own CD for all rock fans. It's got the hooks, the lyrics, and has pretty much made history as the definition of alternative rock.
Review: You've probably read at least half a dozen opinions on this album and you're likely sick to your stomach from hearing the first few riffs of Smells Like Teen Spirit. My purpose for writing this review is based on timing. It's April the 8th. It's ...
