Nice product, poor packaging
Pros:
Very nice coverage, great match to my coloring, smooth and pretty.
Cons:
Bad packaging and brush.
The Bottom Line:
I will continue to purchase this product, but would be much happier if they'd change the packaging.

This is a nice mineral foundation, but the packaging and supplied brush could be improved upon.
I became interested in mineral foundations when I saw an infomercial for Bare Escentuals on TV. I then started looking for similar products at my local drug stores and found the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Mineral Powder Foundation.
I have fair skin with splotchy redness on my cheeks and need good coverage for under eye darkness. This product covers very well, and gives my skin a nice sheen without looking cakey or over done.
The problem is the packaging. It's very difficult to get the powder out and onto your face with the instructions on the product (which are gone forever if you throw away the plastic seal, which you have to remove to open the product).
You are supposed to take off the cover, slide down a plastic piece around the built in brush, shake to release the powder into the brush, then apply.
The problem is that it is hard to shake hard enough to get the product onto the brush without flinging it all over the room. And the powder comes out in one spot in the middle of the brush, rather than all over the surface of the brush, so application isn't even or easy.
Reluctant to give up, I found a solution to this by taking off the cover, sliding down the plastic piece, replacing the cover, then shaking really hard for a long time until the cap filled up with a lot of the powder. Then I dumped the powder into a bowl, then just dipped the brush in to load the brush and apply. After this, I was much happier with the product.
I use a brush that I got separately from the product because the included brush is too soft. I find that a dense, shorter brush is much more effective in applying this product effectively.
Overall, I like this foundation a great deal. I like the smooth, fresh look it gives my skin, which needs a lot of coverage. However, I think they need to go back to research and development for the packaging, as I have bypassed the package to use the product to my satisfaction.
Price: Reasonable for this kind of product. I believe I paid $14.00, but when I got it, there was a promotion for a free mineral eyeshadow with purchase, so I got a pretty good deal. Also, there is a LOT of powder, and you need very little for application, so this purchase will last a long time.
