The Half-Life series has always been the benchmark for first-person shooters (FPS), and you can see why buy purchasing this excellent bundle. In it you receive Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. Or in other words... the best FPS franchise, an addictive and thought-provoking puzzler, and a fun online squad game, all for the price of one game. Must-buy? YES
If you're looking for a "twitch shooter" or never-ending shooting, Half-Life isn't for you. Rather, Half-Life 2 is more realistic in that it mixes shooting and action with puzzle elements, plot developments, character dialogue, and environmental obstacles that feel more like a real-life event than other shooters. It features a phenomenal physics system that really immerses the gamer into the Half-Life world, and once you're in you can't get out. It's that good.
Add to that the graphics, environmental design, character animations, epic set pieces, awesome weapons, engaging sound, and the best sense of immersion I've seen in a game, and you'll find that this is one of the finest games ever made. I know that's a bold statement, but it's a statement I share with many, MANY people in the gaming community.
"Portal" is fun, new, refreshing, and thought-provoking. It's a first-person puzzler that really brings a great new product to the table. It's won numerous rewards and is a lot of fun. "Team Fortress 2" is known as the best team-based shooter there is, and it provides the player with a lot of different characters and ways to play.
So if you're looking for something different from the rest of the crowd, and an experience that you'll remember forever, look no further than "The Orange Box".
