What ever you do, don't drop it off your dash

Date of Review: Dec 3, 2007

The Bottom Line:  I'll buy other products first.
I liked the unit for the 6 weeks it worked. I'll cut to the chase tho. My units mount lost suction when I drove through climate changes. The second time it came loose and fell from the dash mount disk, I tried to catch it but it hit my carpeted floor. It hit on the left side and blew the screen. the sound and directions still worked but it's kinda hard to program with the screen out. I took it back to the place of purchase for warranty repair. No go. I called Garmin. They will repair it for $250.00. The store I purchased it at offered to sell me a new one at their cost for $250.00. No thanks. Other problems. I travel by air 2-3 X month. The 340 is physically fat and hard to stuff into my computer bag. When you get onto a road that's not on the units map it nags incessantly to turn around.
I have been routed numerous times off at a freeway exit only to be routed right back on the road I was on. Nothing like the GPS making you go thrugh surface traffic for no reason. I bought a TomTom One v3.
