Does it work??

A while ago, I purchased a complete set op Nady MRC11 Bike to Bike radio’s on the Internet to use on one of our Ride Out’s. The radio came about one 6 weeks later then promised but that was more a US Postal thing then a dealer mistake.
The quality looks and feels good and they are very easy to operate. There are a number of channels (14) which can be set with a push button (up and down) and then, you can choose up to 38 sub-channels within to be always sure you have a clear connection with somebody else. There is a lock on the buttons, so they can’t change settings.
When we go for the first test run, I had a lot of cables from and to belt and after a while, I found out it was most easy to just put the radio in my tank bag. You have to slide the (mono) headset just between your ear and helmet and I was surprised that you don’t actual feel it (as soon as he sits comfortable). The microphone is on a spring and stays as you fold it.
As soon as I start my bike and drove off, the surround noise activates the VOX and because of the system that you also hear yourself while talking, the noise soon becomes very irritating. The Nady MRC11 has two sensitivity positions but even with the noise reduction on, it still activates.
Luckily, Nady must have known this because they supply a PTT (Push To Talk) button on a 1.5 m (5 feet) wire which you connect to the NADY MRC11 and then somewhere on your bike. This works much better.
Now the system works actual quite good and I was able to talk to my friend who drove behind me. The range on the highway is around 2 miles (enough) but as soon as you reach 80 to 100 km/h (45 to 55 mph), it is nearly impossible to understand somebody else. I must say that this might also be our self and the way we speak. You must pronounce very clearly.
So, am I happy with the Nady MRC11… yes. Would I buy them again… no
