Here's Your Monitor, Folks

by   msr714 ,  May 21, 2001
Pros: Gorgeous colors and sharp text from corner to corner; high refresh rates.
Cons: Aperture grill lines; a little heavy.
The Bottom Line: Definitely a thumbs up, for its crisp text, rich colors, and solid quality throughout.
Review: I originally set out, a few days ago, to replace a year-old Hitachi 19" monitor that had developed a nasty black patch in the middle of the screen. Consistent with my usual lack of good luck, the first two monitors I chose (a Samsung 955DF, $349.00, and...

Crystal Clear Picture

by   randomaccess ,  Dec 9, 2000
Pros: Great Picture
Cons: No softare for color matching with printer
Review: I just upgraded from an NEC 17" monitor, which I have had for over 4 years, and spent a lot of time researching the different types of monitors available.

The biggest problem with purchasing a monitor of any type is determining how good...

Pleased with my FE950+BK

by   beskeptical ,  Jun 19, 2002
Pros: sharp, crisp, clear picture; small footprint; cool factor
Cons: none so far
The Bottom Line: The NEC FE950+ can be found at an extremely competitive price and offers a very nice display at high resolutions and frequencies. Additionally, this monitor has a small footprint.
Review: Out with the old
Previous to purchasing a 19" monitor I had been using a Sony 17" Trinitron. At the time I had purchased the 17", comparing trinitron monitors to shadow mask monitors were no comparison. I found Trinitron's to produce a much...

FE950+ wins at price/performance

by   gbsparks ,  Jul 15, 2001
Pros: Crisp text, bright, very good color, clear display, great price/performance ratio.
Cons: Slight ghosting near the vertical edges of bright, white objects.
The Bottom Line: At $400.00, I highly recommend this monitor. The FE950+ offers a very stable, clear display, crisp text, easy to use controls, very good color and a 3 year warranty.
Review: After going to about a half dozen stores to evaluate ViewSonic, Samsung, Sony, and KDS monitors priced between $300.00-$400.00, it was apparent that sharpness of the overall image, text clarity, the depth of the color and even the usefulness of some of...

The Samsung SyncMaster 900NF, iiyama VisionMaster Pro 450, Viewsonic PF790, PF795, A95f, Mitsubishi's Diamond Pro 900u and DiamondPlus 91 all use the same Mitsubishi DiamondTron NF picture tube. Since the picture tube is the main...

What an Improvement!

by   sunnydai2 ,  Jan 3, 2002
Pros: Nice looking and even sleek for a 19 inch CRT
Cons: It is heavy.
The Bottom Line: Recommended without reservation.
Review: I replaced a 6 or 7 year old Sony Trinitron with a NEC MultiSync FE950+ BK 19. When it booted into Windows, I was immediately taken aback at the difference. It was so much brighter and sharper. The difference was noticed by my son from 20 feet away!...

Good deal, good monitor

by   furball4 ,  Jul 24, 2002
Pros: Sleek looks, good color, good geometry, high refresh
Cons: picture position not fixed, convergence issues, loud power-on
The Bottom Line: Definitely a good buy. On par with the Sony and Viewsonic models.
Review: This particular monitor has a lot going for it. On top of its solid refresh rates (I run 1280x960 @ 85Hz), the monitor is about an inch shallower than most of its counterparts and weighs only 55 pounds.

Looks:

Recommended if you don't need Hi-Res Text

by   sytastic ,  Feb 25, 2001
Pros: Great price for a true flat 19" monitor
Cons: Dot pitch leads to poor text at high resolutions
The Bottom Line: Buy if you a. get good price, b. don't run very high resolutions, c. need a flat screen, and d. do not need ultra sharp text.
Review: I already had a 19" monitor but added an duel out video card and was looking to add a 2nd 19". This monitor was purchased based upon some reviews I'd read and based upon its price for a true flat screen.

This monitor, when I purchased it, was...
