Author's Review
Electronic Arts has always kept the NBA Live series going strong. NBA Live 2000 is no exception. It really delivers. With all 29 teams being offered and of course the latest players available prior to its release, NBA Live 2000 offers a semi-realistic game. This year the legends are also available. Stars like Magic Johnson, John Havlicek, Larry Bird, Dr.J and of course, HIS AIRNESS- Michael Jordan are all available for competitive play with your friends.
During the Season mode, you can draft a team to play to play your season. You can also create your own players for use during the season. You can choose a long or short season and include all 29 teams or customize the season with only a few teams. The legends are also available for season play.
However, unlike regular play, during season play, in order to get to the stars of yesteryear, you must accomplish certain feats. For instance, to unlock Larry Bird and add him to your team, you have to score 20 or more points in the 3-Point Shootout in the Superstar Level. Once you attempt this, you will see that this year's Live is more challenging than those of the past.
Besides season play, NBA Live also offers the 3-Point Shootout, the One-on-One Play mode, and a Practice mode. In the Shootout you can pick up to eight players to compete for the longball championship. The One-on-One takes you back to the playground where you play a trash talking game of old school hoops. You cannot use Michael Jordan until you beat him in a
1-on-1 matchup. Not an easy feat! The Practice mode is self explanatory. In it, you pick a player to practice with and you are alone in a gym to do just that...PRACTICE.
I only wish that this game had a dunk contest on it. Besides that, I LOVE THIS GAME!
NBA Live 2000 is a great game!! The graphics are great and the game is fairly competitive. And best of all...Mr. Basketball-Michael Jordan is back with those ankle breaking moves and high flying dunks. Great game... can't wait for NBA Live 2001!!!!!!!!!
