Product Review

When Did I Become Michael Jordan?

by   JEF24 ,   Nov 4, 2000

Pros:  Outstanding graphics and easy to learn controls. The price is right!

Cons:  The soundtrack is all rap and hip hop. You may like this although it is not my preference.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I couldn't believe how easy it was to learn to play this game. That is a huge compliment coming from me considering that playing any game is usually hard for me. I am intimidated by a controller that has more than 2 buttons.

Do you like to save money? I know I sure do. I've figured out that you must never buy a Playstation game of any type for more than $20. I promise you that if you wait 6 or 7 months after a game has been released, you will be able to buy it for $20. That's what I did for NBA Live 2000 and what a bargain that was. This game is so awesome that it probably would have been worth my $50. I had a pretty good idea that it would be great because EA Sports games are always the best. I don't waste my money on any other brand of sports games.

NBA Live 2000 offers many modes of play. You have 1 on 1 with Michael Jordan, NBA Draft mode, Season mode, Playoffs mode, 3-Point Shootout mode, and of course regular old exhibition mode. That is a lot of choices. There is even a practice mode if you need it. I jumped right in with both feet and no practice. It still didn't take me long to catch on to the controls once again proving the game's simplicity to learn. I chose to start out at the Rookie level though.

Once you have chosen which mode you will play then you have many options. You can choose the type of offense you wish to play. You are allowed to play as the person who has the ball or you can choose to stay locked as a certain player which limits the amount of control you have whenever someone else on your team has the ball. You can set the rules the way you would like to have them. You can set the plays that you like to use. You can always choose your substitute players if one of your teammates or you get tired. The list is endless. If you don't want to go through all of these options you can always leave things on the auto/default settings. Either way it is fun and easy to setup.

If you are a serious gamer or just a sports gamer NBA Live 2000 is the smart choice for a basketball game. It would be well worth your $20 and will provide you with hours of entertainment and enjoyment. I will guarantee that you will like this game and I will also guarantee any other Electronic Arts sports game that you might choose to buy. Good luck with your gaming and have some fun!
