What could be better than having Mickey and Minnie as your neighbors and creating fun in your own virtual kitchen? Kids will love My Disney Kitchen.
I bought this as part of a 2 bundled software package a few years ago and thought my daughter who was 5 at the time would be a perfect age for this.
She has had a lot of fun looking around her "kitchen" and creating some masterpieces.
When you play the game you are inside your own kitchen that is stocked with all sorts of appliances, dishes, pots and pans, utensils and food. You can change the wallpaper of your kitchen or cook up some chicken for dinner. You do this by clicking and dragging.
My daughter has made popcorn, icecream sundaes, toast and set a pretty table for serving. You control everything in this kitchen from opening the refrigerator and moving the food around to cleaning up a spill with a friendly mop. You can even put soap in the sink, turn on the faucet and watch a bubble mountain rise when you're ready to clean the dishes.
Her favorite part by far was the Make-A-Cake area and Morning Griddle. You access these areas by clicking on a star either on the stove or on the counter next to the stove. For the morning griddle, the stove opens up to a large griddle and Mickey and Minnie instruct you on how to make bacon, eggs and pancakes. They even warn you not to let those food items burns and can happen if you leave them on too long. Once they are cooked, use the spatula to place them on a plate and then you can add butter and syrup if you like. Another click sends your food to the table where Mickey and Minnie come over and eat away while praising your efforts.
The Make-A-Cake area opens up to a large counter with all the ingredients needed to make a great cake. You can choose to have a chocolate, strawberry, vanilla or lemon cake and then frost away. You can also choose what color frosting you'll put on the cake. By clicking on different shapes, you can put roses on the cake or other decorations along with pictures of Minnie, Mickey, Goofy and all the gang. Click again and your cake goes to the table and Mickey and Minnie come over for a bite.
This is a totally interactive game where children can learn some basics about cooking and can control their environment. I've seen my daughter put pickles, icecream and carrots in the blender and watch what came out (not pretty).
Some additional features on this game are a radio that you can change the station to hear announcements or music, a telephone in case you need some help from Mickey and Minnie, a flower box on the window sill that will grow flowers when you water them and a recipe box with 30 kid-frendly taste sensations ranging from breakfast to dinner to snacks.
My 3 year old is able to play this also with minimal help. It has good sound and good animated graphics. Let your kids play this for a while and you might find yourself served a real dinner some day. Martha Stewart, watch out!!!!
