Mucinex - A Great Expectorant

by   elzora ,  Mar 14, 2005
Pros: It works fast and does the job!
Cons: Pricey - but still worth it.
The Bottom Line: Pay the price and get this stuff! It works miracles for congestion & post nasal drip!
Review: I have allergies and deal with sinus pressure and congestion. I also have a condition called SVT (Supra Ventricular Tachacardia) - in english this translates to a fast heartbeat. Some medicines, such as those found in certain antihistamines and ...

Recommended by colleague and doctor. . . works!

by   sshelle ,  Mar 1, 2008
Pros: breaks up the mucus, allows you to get some sleep
Cons: only for those 12 and older
The Bottom Line: I recommend this as a "core" component of any medicine cabinet, especially for those prone to allergies, bronchitis, or pneumonia.
Review: You know how sometimes you hear about something new to you twice within just a few days? Or two entirely different people give you the same advice for treating something, and it's different than anything you've ever done before? That's what recently ...

$10 Mucinex Works better than $100 DR. visits

by   elgatolocorojo ,  Mar 8, 2005
Pros: It works. Don't know why. But it does.
Cons: Is rather pricey. Pills melt as soon as they hit tongue- YUCK!
The Bottom Line: I'm already recommending it to my mother in law, so if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for you! This stuff worked when prescriptions and steroid shots failed.
Review: Seriously. I have been sick with chest congestion that travels up to my sinus and back down again on and off since November 2003. Every once in awhile, I'd share it with hubby and he'd give it right back. And it is now March 2005. I've been to the ...

Mucinex: Decongestant and Expectorant Effects without the Side Effects

by   mariamd ,  Jan 15, 2005
Pros: No palpitations, minimal drug interactions, safe for people with hypertension
Cons: expensive, large pills, bitter taste
The Bottom Line: Definitely try this if you have a great deal of facial pressure and congestion, especially if pseudephedrine and antihistamines are not helping. Good additive agent to these medications.
Review: What is Mucinex? Mucinex is an extended release product whose main ingredient is guafenesin. This is a "mucolytic" agent, which means that it thins the secretions (mucus) that cause those nasty side effects of congestion and thick sputum when a person ...

Worked well for an asthmatic, it might can do the same for you

by   craig721 ,  May 25, 2005
Pros: Works as directed
Cons: Expensive- buy the "generic"
The Bottom Line: 1) don't take if you're a moron 2) don't expect miracles from a one trick pony 3) find a cheaper brand if possible
Review: This product contains the same active ingredient as the good ol' stuff you used to take as a kid, Robitussin DM, without the unnecessary suppresant. I have asthma and have generally taken this when getting over a virus, and the only symptom remaining ...
